OH Nooooo, Christians are being killed!

(I swear, right wing conspiracy is behind all these) icon_rolleyes.gif

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3256633/Shooter-Oregon-community-college-kills-15-people-campus.html

Students at the scene described how the shooter asked people to stand and state their religions before he began firing, according to one eyewitness

A warning message from the shooter who opened fire at an Oregon college allegedly appeared on an internet forum last night.

The message, which was posted anonymously on bulletin board 4Chan, read: 'Some of you guys are alright. Don't go to school tomorrow if you are in the northwest.'

The message continues 'happening thread will be posted tomorrow morning. so long space robots.'

The alleged post is no longer visible on the website - the cached version was first posted on Reddit after the shooting.

'Will post again in am, 10 min countdown. Won't say more to much to prepare,' the post continues.

Under the disturbing message several users advise the poster on the best ways to kill people.

One user wrote: 'I suggest you enter a classroom and tell people that you will take them as hostages. Make everyone get in one corner and then open fire.

'Make sure that there is no way that someone can disarm you as it it possible. I suggest you carry a knife on your belt as last resort if someone is holding your gun.'

While another user wrote: 'You might want to target a girls school which is safer because there are no beta males throwing themselves for their rescue.

'Do not use a shotgun. I would suggest a powerful assault rifle and a pistol or 2x pistols. Possibly the type of pistols who have 15+ ammo.'

Dailymail.com can not verify the authenticity of the message.

Oh dear, "a religious" one popped his cork, being republican is no easy task icon_rolleyes.gif

Umpqua Gunman Chris Harper-Mercer Hated Religion Online
    http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/10/01/umpqua-gunman-id-d-as-chris-harper-mercer.html

The 26-year-old gunman showed a disdain for organized religion online, then allegedly asked victims about their faith before shooting them.

A MySpace account belonging to Christopher Harper-Mercer is registered to Torrance, California. Harper-Mercer and his mother previously lived in Torrance before moving to an apartment in Winchester, Oregon

An online dating profile, linked to Harper-Mercer's e-mail address and featuring another photo of him, says the 26-year-old was living with his parents and searching for the "yin to my yang." It identifies his views as "conservative, republican," and lists "organized religion" as one of his "dislikes."

First, MySpace must be shut down, obviously.
Second, America needs to address the second amendment. It is way past time that the country realized we are being held hostage by terrorists with massive amounts of weapons.
    Finally, I blame Obama.

I think that it is time for the U.S. to face the music about the second amendment, it is an old, outdated relic from the colonial era that needs to be permanently repealed by a nationwide referendum. The more gun violence breaks out in this country the more obvious is the long overdue need to update the U.S. Constitution by making the violent crime contributing second amendment suffer the exact same fate as the eighteenth amendment (prohibition). This right to keep and bear arms is just not working anymore. It is just too problematic to uphold.

People tend to have emotional/non-rational responses to cases such as this.

Since 1994, violent crime has been decreasing. See the tables at the link above.

Table 1A—Crime in the United States, Percent Change in Volume and Rate per 100,000 Inhabitants for 2 years, 5 years, and 10 years
◾In 2013, the estimated number of violent crime offenses was 1,163,146, a decrease of 4.4 percent from the 2012 estimate.
◾The violent crime of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter decreased 4.4 percent in 2013 when compared with the 2012 estimates. Rape offenses (provided under the UCR legacy definition, see Data Declaration for more information) decreased 6.3 percent, and aggravated assault offenses decreased 5.0 percent. The violent crime of robbery declined 2.8 percent when compared with the 2012 estimates.
◾The 2013 violent crime rate was 367.9 per 100,000 inhabitants, down 5.1 percent when compared with the 2012 violent crime rate.
◾The murder rate was 4.5 per 100,000 inhabitants, a 5.1 percent decrease when compared with the estimated rate for the previous year.
◾The estimated number of property crimes in 2013 was 8,632,512, a 4.1 percent decrease from the 2012 estimate.
◾Of the property crimes, the estimated number of burglary offenses decreased 8.6 percent, and larceny-theft offenses declined 2.7 percent. The estimated number of motor vehicle thefts decreased 3.3 percent.
◾The 2013 property crime rate was 2,730.7 per 100,000, a 4.8 percent decrease when compared with the 2012 rate.

    10 11 12 Ways Right-Wing Christians Are Destroying Christianity
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/brynn-tannehill/10-ways-christians-are-destroying-christianity_b_8213708.html?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000592

I've written about how millennials are leaving organized religion and its associated anti-LGBT animus in droves. As a result, the only religions holding on to membership (barely) are ones with super-high birth rates and very conservative views. In the process, conservative faiths are becoming increasingly insular and preaching to an echo chamber. This is creating a downward spiral of church membership overall as less and less millennials want to be a part of a brand that is increasingly unpalatable. And make no mistake, it is millennials who are leaving conservative denominations the fastest.

As an atheist and as an LGBT activist, this seems like a good thing. The faster conservative religion is overwhelmingly seen as mean, crazy, violent, hateful, misogynistic and anti-science, the faster we as a society can move on. I'd rather America looked more like somewhere people want to live, than someplace that generates political and religious refugees.

    1. Fighting battles you've already lost.
    2. Deciding who's Christian based on how much they hate gays.
    3. Treating women like cattle.
    4. Rejecting science.
    5. Condemning everyone else's sex lives but their own.
    6. Telling people freedom of religion is only for Christians.
    7. Telling us all the awful things they'd do if they didn't believe in God.
    8. Taking out their phobias on children.
    9. Equating religious freedom with a special right to discriminate.
    10. Showing how much you love people by harassing them.
    11. Killing, maiming, bullying people because you take your Bible too literally.
    12. Utterly lying to the public about the constitution and what is was really meant for

So you say, but most of these mass murders have been carried out by members of the far right - Sandy Hook, Columbine, Charleston, Tucson, now Oregon.

YOU are so right sir, I cant help that I was born here in America, I assure you, I didn't pick my parents or where they chose to live. Thank goodness we have the internet now, where we can find, "the least religious countries". I am not the only one for distain of organized religion, there are many entire countries. I suppose that we are and have been in the "battle for America's soul". "Which way will she go, secular or religious?". Do you want peace or not?

If we know that other countries are non religious, they are doing fine, are voted best places to live/work with a bunch of happy, peaceful people, including gay men, then you really have to ask yourself, using logic of course, if America rid itself of the religious ideal, it would stand to reason that America could contribute, along with other non religious nations, to a more peaceful planet?

When Miss America stands at the microphone and wishes for world peace, funny, she never mentions religion icon_idea.gif

America is not isolated anymore. Most were kept in the dark for so long until the internet. Everything is global now. You now have to look at America as a piece of the global puzzle and problem, America is not the entire puzzle itself. (we call this the big picture of things). People actually thought the Earth was flat at one time. Flat Earth https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Earth

The flat Earth model is an archaic conception of the Earth's shape as a plane or disk. Many ancient cultures subscribed to a flat Earth cosmography, including Greece until the classical period, the Bronze Age and Iron Age civilizations of the Near East until the Hellenistic period, India until the Gupta period (early centuries AD) and China until the 17th century. That paradigm was also typically held in the aboriginal cultures of the Americas, and the notion of a flat Earth domed by the firmament in the shape of an inverted bowl is common in pre-scientific societies.[1]

The idea of a spherical Earth appeared in Greek philosophy with Pythagoras (6th century BC), although most Pre-Socratics retained the flat Earth model. Aristotle accepted the spherical shape of the Earth on empirical grounds around 330 BC, and knowledge of the spherical Earth gradually began to spread beyond the Hellenistic world from then on.[2][3][4][5]

The mistaken notion that medieval Christians thought the earth is flat has been referred to as the myth of the flat Earth, or "the Flat Error".[6] Since the 20th century the consensus among historians of science has been that medieval Europeans, with rare exception, put little confidence in a flat Earth model

America has never been a leader in world peace since she was founded. Root cause? effect?

We are "one nation under God" whether you like it or not. Presidents, including the current one, are sworn into office with the Bible. In fact, Obama was sworn in with two Bibles, one belonging to MLK and other belonging to Abraham Lincoln.

The killer hates Christians like you do, but I hope you have sense enough not to go on a killing rampage in your area. Maybe we should set up an exchange where people like yourself who hate American could go elsewhere, and people who would love to come here would be allowed in and eventually become citizens. Our country is loved so much we have millions of illegals here.

If you think America is bad you'd really be unhappy living in a country with Sharia law.

Yeah, something "happened" in the 1950's alright.

Under republican controlled years. (Eisenhower 1953-1961). "Under God" added to secular pledge of allegiance in 1954. "In God We Trust" added to paper money in 1956. Due to the republican, communist, red and lavender scare(s), of the early 50's and McCarthyism, homosexuality was classified as a mental illness, especially during the Eisenhower presidential years.

Our founding fathers clearly stated separation of church and state. Its been the republican party with the most and horrendous violations of our constitutional law. Our country was and always will be based on secular law, not "christianity". The republican controlled 1950's violated many of our constitutional protections by ushering in "religion" (I suppose to counteract communism?)

What is making me and a whole lot of other "truthers" pissed off is that these same republicans, from the 1950's era, want to take our country back to those same days. They pine and yearn for it. I can see why, when they are in control, they continue to revert backwards, Leave It To Beaver. The more truth comes out about all their lies they have told us, the more informed we all become.

Unfortunately, it was my parents generation (now in their 70's, also called the baby boom generation, now I know why, religion based procreation) that grew up thinking that our nation was built "under god" due to the lack of educational resources to research the truth. For so long, right wing nut jobs got away with telling people their version of the truth, instead of like today, people can think and research for themselves what the truth is. Young minds, 17-25 are impressionable, especially during the 1950's.

As a forward, progressive thinking nation, we can all reverse the lies and damage done by the 1950's and 1980's, republicans and their right wing control zealots. The republican controlled 1950's and 1980's were not that long ago in our country's history, but I hate being lied to. As I have already stated, it appears to be a battle for the soul of America. Yeah, I like it here but I don't like the control, obsession of the sexually charged right wing nut job. I suppose that is why are founding fathers created provisions of separations of church from state, so that in order to create "a more perfect union" we could all live happily ever after, together, in harmony.

It doesn't seem to be working out as they intended, here in America, I suppose power, control and corruption got in the way icon_confused.gif

My parents were forced to watch this, there last year of high school, for mom, it was 1955, for dad, 1957

So I guess that 1959 Chevy and 1960 Ford were out a few years early?
