Thinking of seeing the National Theatre's production of the play next week (filmed live performance shown in local theaters.)

Anyone seen it? Can recommend or not?

Will definitely see Cumberbatch's performance in Hamlet the week after.

I've seen it (a long time ago) and read it (same). Funny!--if you're the type who likes comedies of manners of another era (I am). Those looking for relevant hard-hitting verismo might be squirmin'...

^^ Similar opinion. If you have never seen Restoration Comedy, give it a go. These plays, however, are almost entirely production dependant. Good comedians with great timing will make this a fun evening - sluggish performers with poor direction will stop it in its tracks. While this is true of many plays it is archetypal of Restoration work - but the NT should give it a good go.
