We have that here in Dallas. It's called the Buzz Bike. From what I've seen, the driver gets the pedalers to sing crazy songs while they're going and tries to keep them all energized while they're getting drunk. One time we heard these girls singing, "heyyyy, must be the money!" as they went by. We just shook our heads. Sometimes I get stuck behind it in my car. It's worse than the damn trolley :/

Someone I know, I forget who, did this recently as part of a bachelor party. It looked way more fun than it turned out to be.

How is that legal if you're drinking and driving?

I think the guy with the steering wheel is sober. The propulsion seems unreliable though.

They're everywhere in Portland. Very annoying. The driver has them bellowing out drinking songs and heckling pedestrians.

It's pretty funny seeing them try to pedal faster when traffic starts to back up behind them. icon_lol.gif

We have them here in Buffalo along Elmwood Avenue which is congested as it is without this loud slow moving nuisance.

Hmm... I don't see a head (bathroom) on board there anywhere. Nor any lifejackets. icon_confused.gif

There's a gay club owner here in Wilton Manors who told me he wants to operate one of these. I tried to discourage him. Not a good image for either our city or for gays.

And BTW, are there any safety belts on these things? What keeps drunks from falling out into the street onto their heads? Or vomiting in public from the exertion of pedaling, and the motion of riding? These things have no suspension, ride pretty bumpy.

Those in the US appear to be used mainly for bar crawls. Elsewhere they actually are equipped with a beer bar and a bartender, and you drink on the go.

What happens when it gets t-boned by a drunk teen texting from behind the wheel of her Corolla?

    I presume you die.

But as a way to bar crawl in Wilton Manors in makes little sense. Most of the gay bars are within walking distance, some literally next door to each other. If you need a lift you can phone the "Pink Flamingo" electric shuttle that'll take you anywhere in WM for a couple of dollars, including the restaurants if you want something to eat.

Much less than this pedal thing is likely to be. And Barcycle keeps you all on their schedule of bars only, whereas the Flamingo is on-call, like a taxi, even right to your home. Phone it when you're ready. We can have something like this here because of our warm climate.

I love them. They always seem to be having a good time so I always wave and try to encourage them.
