We had a recent Forum about a guy who got fired for passing too much gas. But how about being fired for being 'Extensively shapely', or too attractive. A women was fired by the Dentist she worked for, as his wife and their Pastor thought she was too attractive and he might fall for her. His wife noticed his pants bulging on several occassions when they were working together and decided to have her fired. The dismissal was unfair, but according to US Labour Law, being fired for being 'Extensively shapely' is acceptable as it can distract other workers.

You can play it (shapeliness) up or play it down. If you are dressing too provocatively for the work place I can see where it can be a problem. Plunging necklines, tight pants and blouses, short skirts, etc. have no place in most work settings. If she was dressing inappropriately for a professional setting she should have been given fair warning and told to tone it down.

there are 50 ways to discriminate services, fire someone, in general do what you want. Its just these people are so out about it. I find it difficult hurt someone and to do it this way is double bad.

you know stand up and say to someone your gay, fat, black, yellow, female so I am going to do this and by the way call my lawyer.

The solution is unclear. Perhaps the dentists was unduly distracted by the very attractive assistant. Should the problem be ignored? It may be that the best solution would be for the dentist to give her a good reference and assist her in finding another position.

We are imperfect people living in an imperfect world, so sometimes there are only imperfect solutions.

It being legal to fire someone for being too attractive is bullshit, because although pretty people can be distracting, you should be able to forge a humanized connection with someone verbally, which should distract you from objectifying their body and getting a boner every five seconds. He should be fired for not knowing to masturbate before his shifts if the woman is that damn hot; clearly he never watched There's Something About Mary.

One could consider the problem to be the result of a disability on the part of the dentist. If so, it is a very common disability.
