Hey Guys...So I have been in NYC for a few weeks and have tried out a lot of gyms. Not sure I have found THE gym yet, certainly a few contenders, but I was wondering where folks go.

    Any suggestions would be great!

Plenty to choose from. I go to Blink and think it's great.

I'm very out of touch but you strike me as a "Steel" kinda guy.

Depends on what's closest to you. I'd say check if it's near you, and if the equipment they have is the equipment you'll want to use.

I train at Mid-city gym. Not close to me, but I'm happy with that facility.

Blink is cheap, not bad, but not a lot of benches (no bench press).
    Planet Fitness, it's a joke.

    Crunch, is pretty expensive.
    So is Equinox.

If you live in Long Island there might be a Gold's near you.

Google a gym, check it out live and see if they have free trial periods.

NYSC here, basically happy although they recently introduced a cheaper membership tier which is changing the crowd a little... more broken equipment although at least at my normal location they are pretty good about getting stuff fixed.

Advantage is there are lots of them. Weight room at mine is huge, with a lot of gear including some crossfit/strongman stuff.

Thanks guys. Yeah I've checked out Crunch it's pretty good. I am heading to Steel this week to meet up with a buddy and try it out. I'm in East Village just for reference.

I think I am partly dragging my feet because I moved here from LA, and I left my gym of 10+ years there haha.

There's a decent Blink at E4th and Bway, I like that place. Some people like Crunch, I think they still have a location on Lafayette St. And there's a smaller chain of gyms with a large facility on Mulberry St at Prince in SoHo. It's also very reasonably priced, and they have a few other locations (sorry I am blanking on the name).

McBurney YMCA is great and not so expensive. There is a large free weight room -never have to wait - a separate cardio room, a huge pool, two basketball courts, and plenty of free classes.
