There are some very heart warming commercials. Coke commercials, used to bring a tear to my eye.

Was kind of predictable...but that mattered not AT ALL. Was VERY emotionally moving.

Maybe in 25-30 years when there is a sufficient base of male couples who allowed the time to develop this kind of intimacy.

I suppose that one of the few justifications of a six figure liberal arts education is that one may be taught not to be taken in by sentimentality by studying it in literature.

Then perhaps you are in denial. This is almost 50 years after Stonewall and a relative golden age for "gays". Yet, to observe from *ALL* "gay" social sites and the tone/language in here, the porn/furtive quickie sex mentality still reigns.

^^The gay community is much bigger than RJ, bathhouses and grindr. Though I do agree our culture has a long ways to go before the seedier elements die off.

But it is "RJ, bathhouses and grindr" and the like, that is *ALL* the world sees.

In fact, these are considered the "gay mainstream". There are NO clear alternatives.

It's usually the sluts that get offended. Don't get mad because it's true that you have multiple different dicks from multiple different guys within a week.

I don't understand, there are alternatives, the're smaller but they are there. College was my alternative. I was tutoring my boyfriend to be, I didn't even knew he was gay until he asked me if I wanted to hang out outside of tutoring lessons, well I still didn't make the connection even till then until he asked me if he could kiss me.

I feel like this is what "mainstream gay" is.

I look at that and I just don't see myself being any part of what the world sees as gay culture. I refuse to be something part of something so shallow, and obnoxious.

Yes, that's a good word; offensive, is another.
It is offensive that you choose to ignore the hundreds of thousands of us that are in long term relationships and have been for decades, because you spend all your time on hook up apps blind to numbers of us that exist.
I'm assuming you were absent the day we were all lining up for marriage licenses--313 on June 6 here in Austin.

Though I want to believe you, there is no readily found evidence of these "hundreds of thousands (of gay men)...in long term relationships", nor are there social procedures among "gays" that promote intimacy (rather than quickie sex/porn style involvements). Maybe those who are in these intimate relationships could be much more outspoken...could provide a counterpoint to what is to be found on mainstream "gay" sites.

313 applying for marriage licenses in Austin? No, I was not there to view that...probably no one else saw it either except those applying. Is great--truly. And yet, I see this new status (married) on the "gay" sites and one or the other is looking for a hook-up. Old ways die hard?

Yea but who's to say that those people aren't going to de-sanctify the spirit of what marriage means? I've been told by countless of my acquaintances that they see "married men" opening up their relationship after they have gotten married. We want equality, but we pick and chose the rules we want to abide by. I don't understand the point of fighting for marriage if you aren't going to uphold its values.

I'm not saying all the gay marriages are going to turn out this way, but a good of them will probably will. So yes you can get offended personally, but it's not illogical to say that there isn't any validity in what he says.

This video is repulsive. Everyone in that video looks and acts like a circus freak. And people wonder why so many guys stay in the closet.
