How the hell do you not get jail time for breaking someone's jaw and cheekbones?

Instead, prosecutors said, Philip Williams and Kevin Harrigan must stay away from downtown Philadelphia for several years, pay just under $1,000 in restitution and perform 200 hours of service at a facility serving the LGBT community...

Prosecutors said the victims, Zachary Hesse and Andy Haught, had encouraged a resolution that avoided excessive punishment while sending a positive message about tolerance and understanding...

"Today's agreement is certainly about justice, but it is also about honoring the wishes of the victims to make sure they can continue to heal and gain closure," District Attorney Seth Williams said in a statement....

wasn't one the daughter/son of a sheriff? sheriff was probably friends with the DA/judge... they can still pursue a civil lawsuit, if they're smart...

They can also put intense pressure on the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to strengthen their hate crime laws. Make the lives of those dumb tea partier senators downright miserable.

The 3rd perpetrator is a female and she's going to trial because she didn't accept the plea deal. And yeah, she's the daughter of a police chief.

It's stories like this that make me really happy to have concealed handgun laws.

    Cheers,

In the 2 bashings down here recently, the victim was surprise assaulted-from behind and they barely even remember what happened. The only thing a concealed gun might have done in those cases is armed the assailants when they noticed it. They sure would have been happy too!

In fact, this was not a sentence but a plea bargain.

The victims in the case very much did not want to go to trial and are upset that the other defendant did not take a plea bargain too.

This was in the linked story that began this thread and is quoted by someone above.
