I've never seen the Super Bowl. At the supermarket earlier, the checkout girl said something to me about it, and it took me a second to figure out what she was talking about. Team sports have never interested me much.

I think football is boring but I don't think the Super Bowl is stupid. I just don't like the other aspects about the whole thing. The advertising and commercialism. The hype. The heated rivalry between fans. The NFL's draconian rules.

I just got back from a Super Bowl house party, and it was pretty horrible. First time I've ever watched one. The guests were gay, lesbian & straight, funny to watch the gay guys yawning, and the lesbians jumping up and down screaming. And the host, being lesbian, had nothing there to drink but beer.

Note to self: don't EVER go to one again. And if I get tricked into it again like this time, bring along a big bottle of vodka or gin. Or better, one of each.

American football in general seems stupid to me......2 seconds of play and 5 minutes to set up....then 2 seconds of play and another 5 minutes to play....over and over

and what do you have for it when you are done? Nothing.

I also do understand fans for a team....it's not like the fans are playing....they contribute nothing to the game, yet they act like they were responsible for the outcome and get all proud or down about "their" team. Totally mystifies me.

    you guys are so gay.

I just got done watching it and was glad my steelers won.

I didn't get to see who got MVP, but that lineman who ran almost 100 yards for a touchdown after picking up a fumble should get it. number 92 i think.

Super bowl watchers are not really gay. they are just confused heterosexuals that need intense professional help to cure them

To each his own, I guess but, personally I don't care to watch it. Some things that I find amusing, is how it's such an "important " event. Superbowl parties, tailgate parties, all the hype. It seems that many of the fans are your typical former high school heros who've now seriously let themselves go, and sit on the couch, eat chicken wings and drink beer till' they pass out....I just think it's funny...and sad.

While waiting for my plane in Miami I saw Jennifer Hudson on the TV singing her heart out in that big stadium. She's a big girl that one.

i usually just read during the game and then watch the commercials :p football puts me to sleep even worse than baseball to be honest- something about the dull roar of the crowd and the droning announcers voices, punctuated with the swooshing noises of the digital graphics.

this year i didn't watch it though

I guess you're right, Mike. I really have let myself go since high school...

I think interest in the game seems to come more over time than anything else. My dad used to coach a high school football team - in the first few years he coached, I was always sitting in the front of the bleachers cheering along with the cheerleaders like a good little gay boy. Once I grew more familiar with the rules, though, my competitive side came out and I ended up actually watching the games.

Football does have it's dull moments - like when one team is blowing out another and all the plays are predictable. This Super Bowl...especially the fourth quarter...was definitely not one of those moments.

HELL YEAH STEELERS. Six rings and counting!

I wasn't planning on watching it but some friends called and said to come over. It was a fun game although the 3rd quarter was a little boring - the last quarter more than made up for it. We just talked about which guys we thought were cute. One of my friends couldn't stop talking about the Cardinals' coach. We all loved the Cardinals' quarterback. At one point, one of the Steelers slapped another player's ass and one of my friend shouted 'Yeah! That's it. You know you want it!' LOL! Also, regarding a Cardinal runningbacks, another friend commented 'Damn, that ass is beyond bubble butt. I bet you you could bounce a whole roll of quarters off that ass!' It's pretty easy to make a ton of gay innendoes with american football. I mean it's full of beefy muscular guys grabbing at each other. What's not to enjoy? icon_biggrin.gif

None of us were really rooting for either team (We're Pats fans) although I felt the Cardinals were definitely the underdogs.

It was a great game in my opinion. However, I wouldn't have such a fun time if I wasn't with my friends.

Haha, you might be thinking of Larry Fitzgerald. I heard them comment on ESPN one time that his ass gives new meaning to "wide receiver" icon_biggrin.gif

I haven't seen a Super Bowl since the Bears played the colts (i'm a bears fan, btw). Besides this, I really do not follow pro-football that much, i mean, I read about the bears and their games but that's about it.

I don't know, it seems the quality of pro-football has gone the drain in the last 5-7 years. Now, you always read or hear either some player is talking shit about another team member or someone is bitching about their contract dispute, apparently, the $100,000,000, 6-yr contract they were originally offered is not enough. I still go to some games and have a good time but it's not how it was growing up.

PLus, I hope LA gets a team soon! does anyone know anything about this?

Now, it's pretty much college football that I follow...go BOILERS! (they sucked this yr)

o yeah, and this doesnt have to do with the super bowl but with foot ball lol

while i was at home for Xmas my dad was watching a game and while i was playing my ds i hear this from the tv, which i will never forget.

Announcer : "Who would have thought that the tight end would be the ultimate receiver for the bears?"

i just looked up and giggled haha
