This [proposed bill] means that any Florida health care provider could refuse to, say, provide birth control or perform an abortion on a woman.

For LGBTQ patients, things look even bleaker. HB 401 could reasonably allow doctors to refuse any treatment to patients who live in violation of their beliefs, as long as that patient isn't in "imminent danger of loss of life or serious bodily injury."

The bill goes even further in its protections. Doctors will not only be able to refuse treatment to patients, they will also be shielded from liability from both lawsuits from patients and disciplinary action from their employer.

Rep. Gonzalez, the bill's sponsor and a licensed Orthopedic surgeon, told HT Politics "This is not about discriminating. This is about making sure the state stops, at a narrowly crafted level, from intruding into somebody's liberties."

I think its time for us to retire the wholly-misleading phrase "the country is going to pot" and introduce a new, more accurate one: THE COUNTRY IS GOING TO HEROIN (actually true)

One day the Republicans will stop trying to punish us for who we are.

    But that day isn't today.

It's not just the republicans, it's all the religious supremacist. Odd that's it's mainly Christians in this country, but I'm sure many others would happily jump on this bandwagon. Till it's aimed at them.

But that's their excuse. They claim our Constitutional freedoms ARE aimed at them. We're not allowed to have rights that disagree with their religion-based own.

Everyone else's rights must conform with these guys' religious views, otherwise there isn't religious freedom. Makes sense, right?

In other words, our laws must conform to Christian fundamentalism, that we all must obey, regardless of our own beliefs, or else their religious freedom is being violated. Huh? But apparently it makes sense to Respublicans & Conservatives, who largely support them.
