Nice to see that some states aren't shy about using the cheapest and most direct method of controlling out-of-control animal populations. I nominate the crow for the next round.

We have about umpteen million deer around here jumping out in front of us whenever we're driving at night. How about a few thousand of those?

Rather than waving your dicks in the air about how perfect we are and how much more right we humans have to be here than a few bears, lets remember that bears and the like have just as much right to be here as we do. I think less people and more animals would be a far better balance.

Beautiful, sexy, muscular men get a reprive in perpetuity!! LOL

Too bad we can't use the same method for the 'out-of-control' human populations.....oh wait, that's what wars are for....nevermind...we're doing a great job....just need to move the wars to a different continent and then we'll be making some real progress...

I've read in local Florida papers there were no provisions, to include extra funding to animal rescue agencies, to accommodate the orphaned bear cubs from this slaughter. Those born in the early Spring this year still can't fully fend for themselves. And will likely slowly die of starvation.

Ah, well. What's that compared to the pleasure gun nuts get from plugging bullets into slow-moving and defenseless animals? Animals at their normal population numbers, whose only offense is living in places where corporations want to build more human incursions into their land?

Being capable of running 25-30 mph, they're not exactly slow moving (see the Wikepedia link). Populations are increasing, and contacts with humans are increasing, even discounting the expansion of suburbia.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_black_bear
Black bears are highly dexterous, being capable of opening screw-top jars and manipulating door latches. They also have great physical strength. They have been known to turn over flat-shaped rocks weighing 310 to 325 pounds (141 to 147 kg) by flipping them over with a single foreleg.[39] They move in a rhythmic, sure-footed way and can run at speeds of 25–30 mph (40–50 km/h).[40] Black bears have good eyesight, and have been proven experimentally to be able to learn visual discrimination tasks based on color faster than chimpanzees and as fast as dogs. They are also capable of rapidly learning to distinguish different shapes, such as small triangles, circles and squares.[41]

Bare bears, barely bearing both buckshot-blasting barrels, because banal, boisterous belligerent brutes boorishly bemoan blatant bungling by baseless, bear-beckoning busybodies. Barbaric, backward bear-baiting bitches bedamned!
