Now this aint a bigging myself up thread as I aint all that, and my body is far far far from where I wanna be..... and Im the most humble person on the planet who was given a lucky break and took full advantage of it

Anyhow back to Mens Health. A couple of years back when I started on my body recovery plan and losing the weight I was lucky enough when part way through to get taken on by Mens Health in the UK for their website. Long story short I worked my nuts off, was totally strict on the diet non stop gave it my all and achieved.

But all the way through as I was openly gay I got abuse, not just about my lifestyle but about my body claiming we had faked it all blah blah blah and others taking the piss out of a figure on a weight plate, when they knew little of progression or training style. OK it was a minority but there was some serious shit flying about I had death threats and abusive emails coming in daily, but thankfully supportive ones and guys wanting help out weighed it. On the best part it was a great experience but I wouldnt do it again, At the end of the challenges I hung around a while and still helped others.

Anyhow, back to the current story, I went on there yesterday and within 5 minutes of posting one of the worst homophobic nutters started hitting off at me claiming it was all fake, I was fat and generaly hust hurling abuse. I was like wtf!!!

In a way I should be flattered that this sad individual feels so affected by me that a year later (having not been on there) his feelings are still that strong to me!!!

Is it just me or would this just freak you out a little!

Sorry if this was a long un but just needed others thoughts

Just read the thread... also read that guy's profile. Is it me, or does he sound a bit... whack? His profile freaks me out... and yes, I think I'd be a little freaked over his incessant need to hurl abuse.

And no, you're not fat. I should know... I'm in the fat club right now... but not for long... icon_razz.gif

I looked at the guy's profile and did a Google search on what stood out as unique: Sex is maths. Justice is dead. They're ideas plucked from the book, American Psycho.

Hey, you're a great guy, life's too short to worry about these nutters although I'd be upset as well. Hopefully the management of the site will take him off there.

There's a lot of nuts out there...
I really like Menshealth as a magazine but you have to realize
This is a magazine that's read by guys who are into their bodies.... that said, those who are professing that they are str8 are threatened by us gay men
I think Menshealth is very homoerotic
so if these guys are reading it their likely denying their own sexuality
you come along and ... of course get hit by the backlash of homophobia

The magazine and website managers should be reminded that, in the United Kingdom, persistent homophobic abuse such as you describe comes under the heading of 'hate crime', and that anyone committing it is liable to investigation and prosecution by the police.

Bless. He's a loon. I wouldn't take it at all to heart. It must be nice to be a celebrity though. Dodgy mentalists berating you and so forth.

cheers guys kinda restored my faith a little and that Im not veing a drama queen.

great point cervvx the site aint doing anything about it and if they dont I shall quote them on that.

Casion re the weight plate comment: its idiots that dont know the first thing about your training routine or structure and have to pass comment on a relatively low weight squat, bench press or whatever their ego determines they can lift more of. I dare say I could lift as much if not more than them if that was all I did after sitting in the gym for half an hour between sets!

Maybe I should set myself a challenge one week just to go and do one rep maxes not using a super slow approach.

To me the value of a figure on a weight stack is irrelevant its the progression of that individual that impresses me

keyboard courage is sadder to watch than a seventy year old man test driving a Corvette.
