I'm sure the workers aren't treated much better in that factory hell. There are humane alternatives in both slaughter and raising. They're still pricey at this time but only in comparison because of the scale of operations. When demand equals that out the prices should become comparable.

Building towards change is slow....until it suddenly happens overnight.

NO NO NO NO......I am not watching that video! I know how pigs are treated in these factories and every time I try to inform someone of what they go through I just get the "well they shouldn't be so tasty" comment. As if I'm supposed to find that funny. Most humans are more evil and vile than we would like to admit. Anyone who can joke about the suffering of an innocent animal is fucking evil. Period.

And to the guy above me who says the workers aren't treated much better......how dare you. Please show me where any worker is bashed to death in the head with a metal pipe or dragged into slaughter while kicking and screaming.

Wow! That's crazy! It's pretty sad to see this.

    Cheers,

This isn't a career choice. A person would be pretty desperate to participate in a cruel operation like that. Do you think it has no effect on their soul? My larger point is that there is an unnecessary, intrinsic evil at work here, that knows no distinction beyond the letter of the law for either man or beast.

And before you jump on me for using that last word...I believe that all advanced life forms are sentient beings, deserving respect and dignity.

I'm not jumping on you. I just hate when people compare extreme torture to an unhappy work environment.

I've met a few meat factory workers in the past and they've all be wretched people. Not sure if they were attracted to the job because they were bad people or if the job made them bad people.

This is exactly what happens when big corporate giants like Monsanto, Smithfield, and Tyson are allowed to take over our agriculture. It is all about money and nothing else. Totally unacceptableicon_mad.gif
