So I take it that this is a post critical of Donald Trump? Good.

Of course. I've commented countless times regarding what I generally think of Trump.

And I commend both Bush and Kasich for calling Trump out on the ridiculousness of his 'pick up and deport 11 million people plan' in the debate Tuesday night.

southbeach1500 saidLet's not forget that there are millions of people who have been waiting years to come here through the horrendous LEGAL U.S. immigration process.

You can't allow people who came here ILLEGALLY to remain in this country.

It is an insult to those who have put themselves through or are currently waiting on the LEGAL immigration process (google "Administrative Processing" - which is the USCIS version of sending someone to hell).

It is an insult to those who have tried to come here LEGALLY and who have been denied by a sadistic USCIS embassy agent (google it - you'll find tens of thousands of case where people have been denied for no reason at all).

Letting the ILLEGAL immigrants stay is harmful to American jobs and depresses American wages.

Letting them stay and "pay a fine" is simply wrong.

Agree with this too, but exactly how would one do something like pick up and deport 11 million people?

Even if we were to get 1/5th of them out, that would be a good thing. But we just can't throw up our arms (Kasich) and say "it can't be done" or "it's not nice to do that."

Every time I hear old white male Republicans rant about how illegal immigrants and their descendants need to be kicked out of America - I *almost* hope they actually get into power and implement it - and then find themselves on the receiving end when the government bureaucrats apply it literally and point out that their forefathers didn't get permission to immigrate, and they are therefore the descendants of illegal immigrants.

Plus, I love the whole "they are taking our jobs" issue. Every time someone has tried to prove that, they find out that the vast majority of jobs that the illegal immigrants perform, honest hard-working Americans wouldn't want to touch with a 10-foot pole - which is *why* the immigrants can get the jobs. I seem to recall in California a few years back, when they were pushing an "anti-immigrant" stance, someone pointed out that if every illegal in California was sent home, 2/3 of the crops would rot in the fields, and a huge amount of home cleaning/yard work/child care would suddenly be unsupported. The state economy would basically collapse - in spite of all the "hard working Americans" who are in it......

    Amen to that...

So, just the cliff notes on my story... Came from the UK when I was 7 with my parents. Uncle filed for us and we extended visitors visa a couple of times. Got registered and given a priority date. Twenty two years later, my parents get called in to CIS for their permanent green cards. CIS tells me, "You dropped off of the application when you were 18. I don't know how you kept getting Employment Authorisations and Travel Documents." "Your parents will have to turn around and file for you, which will take another 9 years." When my docs expired that year, they decided to "throw" me into deportation proceedings. That's what they thought. I hired one of the best immigration attorneys in the country, and $82,000 later and about 5 years of fighting them, they decided to grant my green card (Category Z11, Cancellation of Removal, where only 1% of applicants succeed), since they saw that I wasn't giving up.

My point is, I have NO regard for people whom come here illegally, pay $1000, wait 6 years, and the US welcomes them with open arms. If you've done things the right way, and just have been subject to the US Government's red tape, I believe yes, CIS should own it and make those cases current.

    Cheers,

    Sean

Thanks again, Donald, for telling it like it is and like it should be! I can't say I'd vote for you, but I appreciate your willingness to have a truly "open dialogue," unlike the closed lectures that the left forces upon us.

BTW, "Operation Wetback" was NOT the government's term; it was invented by the '50s media. The official name of the project was "The Immigration Task Force of 1954." The media was inventing facts back then, too.

Meanwhile, it seems Trump has been inventing some facts of his own on this one.

Liberals: If you want illegal aliens to stay here, then each one of you should volunteer to personally sponsor one of them.

Ah wrong. If you were born and raised in the US, you are a native of this country regardless of your race and ethnicity. I am fully aware of the harsh treatment and injustice that indigenous peoples of the Americas suffered and I condemn it. But regardless of that horrible outcome we are all natives of this country like it or lump it.
