That was the first Broadway show I ever saw. Hopefully this will be as good as the original.

It will probably look like a really long SNL sketch that's bombing, like that Peter Pan thing they did a few months ago, or whatever the hell it was.

Backwards: Stephanie Mills played Dorothy in the Broadway production. Shanice Williams is the new kid on the block.

Skeptical here. The live version of Sound of Music was horrid and I hope I'm wrong about the Wiz.

    That was awesome!
-God I hope it's good because the last two; Sound of Music and Peter Pan were stink-bombs

Phoenix got that one. The other comments make it sound like The Wiz started as the film when it began as a play. So in making it now as a play, I don't know if it's valid to say it might ruin the film.

I thought I remembered it was a play first and then I googled to confirm. Why I remembered was an actress I knew in the 70s had something to do with it though I don't recall just what. Might have been a local performance but could have been touring: it was a long time ago.

Interesting about her and probably why I remember was she was the daughter of a pilot of one of the earlier airliner catastrophes. I think that was the one where the engines sucked in a flock of geese or something. Her mom was a real nice lady, always working to make people feel good, throwing parties, always had a smile on over all that pain.

To the Wiz itself, I always thought it was brilliant. And to the new actress in the vid above, she's got a gorgeous voice and she's very expressive. Okay, well, I'm gonna go ease on down the road now.
