hey guys I was wondering where I should stay and where I should play? I'm 26 and good looking. Do you think I should stay in a gay resort, go to the night clubs/bar and just go home with someone, stay at club ft. Lauderdale, etc? Open to all suggestions. Where are the best places to meet hot guys around my age?

"Gay Central" in South Florida is always migrating. It left Miami Beach years ago, although a few clubs still exist.

The current GC is Wilton Manors, on the north side of Fort Lauderdale. That's where most (but not all) of the gay clubs and bars are located. Dance nightclubs for guys your age would be Hunters, and The Manor (aka Venue), both on Wilton Drive. Although The Manor is only open for weekends, and has a hefty cover, depending on the hour, and costly drinks. More a cruisey strip bar is the Boardwalk on Andrews Ave, just inside the FtL city line next to WM. But old lechers also will go there.

The bigger gay guest houses and resorts are still near the beach in Fort Lauderdale, especially along N Birch Rd and its side streets. These are also closest to Sebastian Beach (named for the E-W cross-street), which is commonly recognized as our gay beach. The gay guest houses are smaller in Wilton Manors, where you'll find more couples who are mostly older than you. But you can never predict the guest mix, and the places on N Birch could be almost all older couples when you'll be there, especially this time of year.

So you have to prioritize: do you want more beach days (stay along N Birch), or more nightime clubbing (stay in WM). If you stay in WM you can club there and walk back to your room after a few drinks, maybe with a guy. And still drive or taxi to the beach a few times during daytime, weather permitting. Both areas are only about 4 miles apart. If you only party in WM then you've gotta be careful how you return to your N Birch resort at night because of drinking. BTW, beware of young hustlers at all gay locations, it's practically a business down here.

PE me and I can answer specific questions and provide names w/links.

I've stayed at Royal Palms a couple of times and loved it. Getting back and forth to the Wilton Manors clubs is easy though the streets are well patrolled so cabs should be considered. Clubs-- I liked Rawhide which sounds like a leather bar and kind of is but also just a great place to dance shirtless. It was always packed when I went but that was a while back.

I've been to FTL a few times in recent years. I'll give a nod to The Grand as a gay resort. It's like a renovated old school motel but it's more gay-upscale(ish) now. It's clean with nicely landscaped grounds and the staff are all very nice. It's an older crowd, ~50ish average maybe, but friendly if you are social. I don't think it's nude though I did see a few wangs suntanning and there are occasional hijinx down at the hottub at night (so I've heard!). There's a tiny gym in there but it's functional for a vacation workout and you may get gawked at through the window that looks out to the pool if that's your thing. There are nearby branches of LA Fitness also. One was really tragic but another one a bit farther was nice.

There are a mess of bars down there, many within walking distance of each other. You should hop around to find what feels right to you though.

That was just my experience. I'd listen to Art or anyone that lives down there more closely.

    Have fun icon_smile.gif

All true. The Grand offers many amenitites, with an extensive spa, and is very nice, but is a little pricey.

As far as nude/clothing optional, the gay hotels near the FtL beach show enticing nude pics on their web sites. But that can be deceiving.

Towering highrise straight hotels have gone up all around them, with windows that look down upon them. Which limits where guests can go naked on their grounds. In the case of The Grand, the pool area is not supposed to be nude. The very place you want to be nude (well, other than your bed, of course icon_wink.gif ).
