Personally, I like Trump's idea of creating a "Safe Zone" in Syria for the refugees where neighboring countries and the U.S. and other countries can all help house and feed them. There are just too many unknowns about the refugees at this point, and those unknowns make it a risky (not to mention expensive) move to allow them here.

    http://dailycaller.com/2015/10/21/fbi-director-admits-us-cant-vet-all-syrian-refugees-for-terror-ties-video/

FBI director James Comey said during a House Committee on Homeland Security hearing on Wednesday that the federal government does not have the ability to conduct thorough background checks on all of the 10,000 Syrian refugees that the Obama administration says will be allowed to come to the U.S.

“We can only query against that which we have collected,” Comey said in response to a line of questioning from Mississippi Rep. Bennie Thompson .

“And so if someone has never made a ripple in the pond in Syria in a way that would get their identity or their interest reflected in our database, we can query our database until the cows come home, but there will be nothing show up because we have no record of them.”

The radical Islamists and radical Jihadists want the West and other developed countries to reject refugees from the Middle East to engender hate within that community. Once that hate is cultivated, the radicals will exploit that emotion to bring psychologically/emotionally vulnerable Muslims into the fold.

I don't think they could possibly hate anymore than they already do.

When it comes to gun massacres, if you look at the statistics, Americans ought be more fearful of home-grown, angry, white (and presumably Christian) young men.

Sam27 saidI allow them in! If you are in a situation where some occupiers control your land and killing your people. You will probably want to find another country to be safe and secure. You'll probably want to make sure your kids are alive and have future.

Don't be selfish - Syrians need our help and we should help fight against ISIS terrorist group in Syria. So that Syrians can return their home safe.

If wasn't Syrian, Apple will not exist (Steve Jobs).
If wasn't Syrian, "Straight up" song will not exist if wasn't for Paula Abdul.

Think about our Syrian-American people in U.S. and their relatives in Syria. If I am a Syrian-American, I would be terrifying what happen in Syria.

Imagine a US without Paula Abdul. Tragic. icon_rolleyes.gif

Turning Away Syrian Refugees Is Exactly What ISIS Wants Us To Do

"ISIS/Daesh wants these Syrian refugees to be turned back, so that they can terrorize them, control them, and promote the narrative that the West is just as hateful as radical Islam. Bobby Jindal and the conservative media are playing right into the hands of Islamic terrorists"

3 important facts about how the U.S. resettles Syrian refugees

1 Only two percent of the refugees are single males of combat age.

2 The United States has one of the world's strictest systems for checking the backgrounds of refugees. Syrians are vetted even more carefully.

3 Once refugees arrive, they can live wherever they want in the country. Faith-based and non-profit groups—not governors—help determine the best places in the country for them to relocate.

i read just now in the NY Times that the refuges coming to the US, unlike the ones arriving in Europe, have been away from their home land for at least 2-3 years. A time frame that disenfranchises them from the current political setup in their countries. The ones appearing in Europe are right off the boat.

Government by fear is effective in a democracy. Especially especially attractive to the ignorant low life citizens.

Nice to see some flickers of common sense among much of the general ignorance and hatred here. These refugees are fleeing exactly the sort of attacks we saw in Paris last Friday.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this sort of pig ignorance is just history repeating.

While Congress cooled their heels, charitable organizations stepped up, none more so than the United Jewish Appeal.

In the late 1940’s anti-semitism was a prevalent attitude in the US.

In Congress antisemitism was an explaining factor in the common hostility towards refugee immigration and anti-semitism explains Congress action that blocked all likely havens of refuge for the Jews before the War.

Part of that hostility was fueled – as some grievances are now- by stereotypes of the refugees as harbingers of a dangerous ideology, in this case communism.
