    War? What War?, They just hate us with the most sociopathic, devious minds ever icon_rolleyes.gif

    In other words, Indiana Republicans are proposing legislation that creates nondiscrimination for LGBT people that is as weighted as much against those LGBT people exercising their protections as possible. Lambda Legal decried the bill as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” noting, “This doesn’t protect LGBT people — it is a road map for discrimination against LGBT people.”

    In an open letter to the governor and legislative leaders, Lambda Legal explained that it could not support legislation that:
    •leaves any segment of the LGBT community behind by not offering full, explicit protections;
    •treats discrimination against LGBT people differently from other forms of discrimination prohibited under Indiana law, including by the addition of hurtful carve-outs for service providers who wish to refuse to serve LGBT people for religious reasons;
    •lessens or waters down protections in existing law for other groups that face discrimination;
    •leave out full employment, housing, and public accommodations protections for LGBT people.

    The Republicans’ bill easily violates all four tenets, sending a clear signal that LGBT people are not meant to enjoy equal protection under the law, but a second-class status full of exemptions

    There's a historical site I'd like to visit in Indiana but I don't want to give that bigoted state one dime of my money.
    What to do...

    What was it a while back about Indiana....didn't some sports governing body (sorry I'm clueless about everything sports) threaten to boycott the state. As well as other corporate entities threatening to do so as well if the governor signed some bill harmful to LGBT? Maybe someone on here from Indiana who knows about the issue can chime in. Sounds like it's time again to boycott the state for real.

    The large majority of Indiana people support equality for gay, lesbian, and bisexual people yet the stupid right wingers in the Indiana GOP can't seem to get that through their thick heads. icon_mad.gif

    There is a sizable and ongoing, increasing movement in IN to oust Gov. Mike Pence, surely the worst governor the Hoosier State has had in the last 60+ years. I hope it succeeds.

    icon_rolleyes.gif You should quit while you're ahead. Those same states located in what you persist in calling "flyover country" contain MANY that offer substantial gay rights protections. The world does not end at the eastern foothills of the Appalachians or the Sierra Nevada, let alone the west bank of the Hudson.

    Thank you. Some of these coast hugging liberal guys need to be coerced into traveling across the beautiful, scenic American interior on either an Amtrak train, Greyhound bus, or in a car. No flying, that option has been taken away from them for their own good. They need to be forced to discover "the real America".
