Wasn't my plan, but the husband doused his iPhone with water at a restaurant about 10 days ago, having left his phone laying out next to his plate. Even with an Otter Box cover some water still got into the uncovered earpiece and muffled it permanently. I tried all the known tricks to dry it out to no avail. I hoped maybe time would heal this wound, but it didn't.

Too rushed to take care of it before our Key West trip, but we're back now, so this morning I ordered a new one online, that we pick up at the local Apple store at noon. I got the usual 2-year Apple Care contract on it, that evidently now covers mishaps like he's prone to having. icon_rolleyes.gif

But a change with this one is to greatly reduce the memory, from the former 128GB both our phones had, for a purchase savings. Since one or both of us always have our 128GB iPad Airs with us, the large phone memory is redundant. The videos & photos that eat up most of that memory are best seen on the larger iPad anyway. All we need on the phones are contacts, calendar items, to-dos, text messages, email and notes. All text that takes very little memory, and still leaves lots of room to take hundreds of pics and short videos, that can then be transferred to an iPad & iMac.

I'll let you all know what we think of this new minimum-memory iPhone 6S.

put your photos on the iCloud.
The interface is kinda clunky but seamless and will be available to all your enabled apple devices. There is a family concept to so the husbands can share. the iCloud has a web presence too.

Drop Box works great as well.
    They have an iPhone app.

another thing to ck out is apple has a free update service maybe it is included on the apple care service.

Surprisingly enough, I got a credit on his inop phone I was replacing. Usually I keep the last phone as an emergency backup. And sometimes I've given those away to guys who've lost their own phones to various mishaps.

But I didn't want to keep this one, you can barely hear the earpiece, and it cuts in & out. No good to me or anyone I'd want to give it to, and how do you sell that on eBay? Plus a process I wasn't interested in doing.

So not expecting any value, I mentioned in the Apple Store that I wanted to get rid of the damaged one, while they were setting up my husband's new 6S.

And they offered me $150 for it! So I took it, against the cost of the new phone. As much to get rid of it and not have a total loss.

BTW, the Apple Store experience was wonderful, as usual. If you know how to do it.

I ordered the phone online this morning, and it was immediately available in the Apple Store 4 miles away. I specified an 11:30-12:00 pickup.

When we got there we were being served within 5 minutes. Despite the store being an absolute packed zoo, even that early in the day as it always is here.

So that we got the new iPhone and were out of there rather quickly. I don't recommend going into one of those stores for a major purchase unless you phone or go online ahead.

For small stuff off the shelf you can walk in, scan it yourself with your iPhone and pay for it online, and never have to speak to an Apple associate. Then just walk out with your purchase, equally easy & painless, despite the mobs around you.

Verizn has an iPhone trade program. They'll give me $300 for my 6+ 128G.

Apple knows how to make money. Historically, there are huge margins in consumer electronics.

Don't forget to factor in the cost of their brainwashing marketing/advertising. Propaganda isn't cheap!

Because they use Chinese slave labor to manufacture their stuff.

ITYM the same Chinese labor everyone else uses, especially Samsung, LG, Sony, Dell, IBM, never mind Chinese manufacturers like Huwaei?

I'd like to have waited. But the husband ruined his old phone, so I had to get him something right away. I may look into the 7 for myself, if it does come out.

Disregard southbeach1500. He's a straight troll who stalks me on these threads. He personally attacks me on every subject I post here. He contributes nothing but political propaganda to this site in support of anti-gay and very often anti-US interests.
