I got a chance to massage at the world weight lifting competition. I really enjoyed the experience and I am hella impressed by the participants. As a gay man sometimes it sems like bodybuilding is the only way to be fit. It was nice to break away from the vanity for a moment

Volunteering at events like that is great! I've got friends who volunteer to help at World and Olympic ski events and really have a wonderful time. I've always been on the other side of the fence, but let me tell you: cross-country skiers have amazing builds and are amazingly fit!

If I knew how to volunteer more I would. My instructor told me they often charge to work at the crossfit events which is dilly since you rarely ever gain clients from events like this

I don't know about other sports, but in skiing, when you know an event is coming up, look it up on the web: there is often a link for volunteering. The more often you volunteer, too, the more often you tend to get invited to do it again. And networking...

Most events are dying for volunteers; established events tend to suffer from "volunteer fatigue" and need new blood!

    Good luck to you!

Thanks, I won't be doing any skiing events in Houston but I'll definitely check out other sports. I love athletes and they truly inspire me. Working on an athlete is such a joy that it doesn't feel like work. I love anyone who is passionate about something so athletes naturally impress me.
