I don't know why anyone would want to live that long. You can delay the aging process of your body, but not your mind. If your mind isn't all there, then you're not really alive.

    No thank you.

first question; did you save enough money?

second; what is that quality of life going to look like? Is that 120 vibrant, engaged, healthy, cognizant years or is it the last 40 years stuck in a wheelchair, shitting yourself and not able to engage in the world?

Ask me that question when, and if, I were to get there. Based on family history the mind will never go.

Now whether I'd want to be trapped inside a barely-functional body is another issue. In which case full cognizance would be more of a curse than a blessing.

But again, I'll judge when I get to that point, or whatever point I do reach. As it happens I like living, despite pains & limitations I'm already experiencing. But I'm adapting, and it's gonna take quite a bit more to get me to cry "Uncle!"

icon_rolleyes.gif Somebody misread the statistics, then the next ten or twelve articles have just been amplifying the hype.
Metformin is predicted to extend the lifespan of the population statistically, by countering the effects of obesity. A healthy diet and exercise is still 20 times more effective, for an individual.

If you live in a village in china with a huge family of children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and maybe even great great grandchildren and have a lot of people looking after you, respecting you, caring for you...then yes 120 can be a great age...however gay at 120 in a western country? Its lonely already at 40... What are u gonna do at 120...no one will even look at you...even if u are straight and have kids, life in western countries is isolating and lonely now...and getting worse.

Assuming mind and body stay reasonably healthy and relatively intact, a life span of 120 sounds pretty spectacular.

BTW, the average life span of a Vulcan is 250 years.

I don't think so - the world will undoubtedly be a very unpleasant place before any of us reach that age. And just imagine the increase in the world's population (which is more than it can support now) if people lived to be 120.

Live for today - tomorrow isn't guaranteed, let alone living to 120.

What's just starting? Your gay life?

Well, since I didn't come out until I was turning 46, I was already 120 in gay years before I even got started. At least I understood that, and just had to adjust my strategy. I did just fine. icon_biggrin.gif

I think I read where Oprah said all white people of my generation need to die so I guess I won't make it that long. When Oprah speaks, the world listens.

If you live long enough you're going to develop cancer of some kind anyway.
