NYT: Lying naked in a small pod filled with 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt and water? Float tanks are having a moment.

My friend, the point isn't to be cool--the point is to have an experience of your deeper self, of total relaxation, of aaahhhhhhhhh!

^ agree, never knew it was "hip" in the past...I started floating about 4 months ago, I do it to meditate and learn more about myself. It is an interesting experience.

Haha. I got a gift certificate to do this for my birthday! It feels like a ludicrously quintessential NorCal experience, so I'm psyched to try it out even if turns out to just be, you know, sitting in a warm bathtub.

I skimmed through the Yelp reviews for the place online and thought it was funny that the number one piece of advice from reviewers was: "Make sure to go to pee before you get in" icon_razz.gif

I tried it for the first time last month.
It was very relaxing I'd definitely do it again.

So, we went and did the isolation tank today. I think I pretty much instantly fell asleep...

I did feel very refreshed afterwards, as well as a little disoriented. But then, that's how I feel after a nap too.

I like floating a lot. There's a float center near me that had vertical floats, I want to try that. They anchor your feet with weights so you stay underwater up to your neck.
