This story has been reported both nationally and very heavily locally here. My personal opinion, this just proves Rahm Emanuel needs to go. And keep in mind, I am a Democrat, and still say he should be kicked out. This city has declined since he has taken office. He just recently masterminded the largest property tax increase in Chicago history. Now we see this story. Laquan McDonald was shot by Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke in October, 2014. In this video interview, it is discussed how police and Mayor Rahm Emanuel operated to cover-up the dashcam video evidence of the shooting for over a year. Emanuel just fired Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy, but the mayor needs to step down himself.

just saying this because the people living in Chicago can expect better if they want. its up to them.

The city of Denver has had several terms of a beloved mayor (John Hickenlooper) who has now moved in to the Colorado governor spot. the city of Denver has been successful keeping costs low and services higher than expected.

There is yet another police video that was released about the beating of another person in custody by the Chicago Police Department. It was just reported on the local news here that Emanuel's approval rating has fallen to 18%. He's lost all credibility in Chicago. It's too bad that all of this came to light after the election.

He should have had NO credibility with the good (but dumb) voters of Chicago BEFORE the election. Now... go ahead people of Chicago and keep voting in Democrats time and time again.

Southbeach, at least I can say that I actually did not vote for him in the most recent election. He has been a disaster.

I have lived in the downtown/near north side area of Chicago for years. I can honestly say I never have voted for this man. When I heard originally that he was running for mayor, I cringed. There was a story in local media that will help sum up Rahm Emanuel's character. Back when the runoff election was approaching earlier this year and the race was between him and one of the alderman, at one point his poll numbers started slipping. It was reported that he was so upset with his numbers, he stormed into his campaign headquarters and went ballistic on his staff, saying they were not working hard enough to get him re-elected. He was so nasty, that several staffers just got up and quit, walking out on the spot.

There are currently thousands of people marching through the streets here right now demanding his resignation.

Because they keep voting for the donkey dorks who have had monopoly control over Chicago city hall since the early 1930s. It is time to throw the democrats out of city hall and elect either moderate republicans or independents. Come on Chicagoans wake up. Your proud, world class city is being turned into a gigantic replica of your impoverished, crime infested, steel making neighbor, Gary IN. Well educated, sophisticated Chicagoans should never let their families, friends, and neighbors vote democrat. Even working class Chicagoans should know better than to fall for the same old song and dance from the democratic blue. They should realize that their lives have never improved under democratic monolithic rule. Look at these following cities: St Louis, Milwaukee, Flint, Detroit, Toledo, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Rochester, Hartford, Bridgeport, Newark, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, and Richmond. What has happened to these 16 once proud and prosperous cities, they all suffered long decades of population decline, disinvestment, shrinking tax bases, violent crime, and rampant political corruption courtesy of your beloved donkey dorks who are the undisputed champions of crooked organized labor, organized crime, and the unmotivated urban poor. Do the folks in Chicago want their great city to fall further behind both New York City and Los Angeles? Do the folks in Chicago want Houston to eventually surpass their great city in population and economic importance? Do the folks in Chicago want their great city to fall below two million in central city population? Do the folks in Chicago want their great city to end up in chapter nine bankruptcy like Detroit? If the answers are no to each of my questions than all Chicagoans need to get their heads out of their asses and STOP VOTING DEMOCRAT IN CITY ELECTIONS from here on out. Look at the 16 cities that I listed their serious urban problems are the end result of unchallenged democratic monolithic rule. Do Chicagoans want the exact same thing to befall their great world class cityicon_question.gif

It is time for you and all your fellow Chicagoans to do either two needed things, change political parties or become non partisan entirely. But the City of Chicago needs to be purged of the corrupt, incompetent Democratic Party or your great city will end up exactly like most other older northern US cities. Your city needs to look to successful cities that are not under longtime democratic monolithic rule and most likely will not permit one political party a guaranteed power grip forever. Cities like Indianapolis, Grand Rapids, Columbus, Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Omaha, and San Diego are all urban success stories because of strong bipartisan urban governance. These cities are growing and are very attractive for business and new investment. There is absolutely no legitimate reason why Chicago cannot join these prosperous cities by becoming bipartisan and returning itself back to economic prosperity. The people of Chicago need to stop letting the local urban democrats brainwash them into keeping their organization in complete control of city hall promising them the world yet delivering nothing but more of the same.

I never liked Emanuel. I hate people who go into public office for the prestige of that position. It's a waste of taxpayer money because they're not looking to do any good -- no substantial changes. They just want the title.
