What are some phone apps that you find useful? Trying to make good use of my phones.

I have gString for guitar tuning and bar code scanner for shopping and price comparisons.

Native camera app is probably my most used and useful app.

Also, I'd recommend IFTTT. Helps automate a lot of tasks.

Depends on your interest. I travel for my job so I have the oyster.com app. I use it to look at real photos of popular hotels. I also have Yelp to read travel and restaurant reviews.

    HP 15c emulator icon_smile.gif
    iBooks, Kindle, Kobo
    Papers
    iNavX, AyeTides, BuoyData, MarineTraffic, MotionX
    StarWalk

Then there are a bunch of apps that seem like they ought to be useful, but I can't really remember using them lately.

Also, if you're going to use the gay dating apps, or even give your number out to guys in bars, Burner is pretty useful.

I still have and regularly use mine; it's right here in my desk drawer. And it's ancient but still going strong. I can't even remember when I last changed the batteries.

What I really miss is my HP 29c. It had red LEDs for its display. I loved the way it fit in your hand.

My 11c is still working, but the bottom of the LCD is starting to turn black. I fear that its days are numbered. icon_neutral.gif

My previous "portrait" format LED HP didnt last all that long, but the "landscape" LCD ones seem to be good for decades.

But hey, with the app, it's like an old friend is in your pocket, all the time!

I'm not sure how many of these are available on android, but these are my favorites:

    Overcast - podcast streaming app
Pandora (or Songza, of Spotify, or Hype Machine or whatever)
SimplyRain (or some other white noise generator for concentrating)
Sleep Cycle - monitors your sleep and wakes you up at the least intrusive time
JeFit - a workout logging app
Mokria Craigslist - awesome craigslist searching and monitoring app
NPR One - like internet radio for NPR content that lets you skip/search for content
Amazon's app - I use it the shopping cart instead of making a shopping list so I don't forget to get stuff
    Scruff - because, you know
AllTrails - app for finding/logging hiking trails nearby if you're into that
    WhatsApp
    MyFitnessPal

    I just installed AllTrails.

If you search for SimplyRain on the google play store it brings up 3 other apps, all are highly rated. I'm going to try all 3. I'd forgotten about this kind of stuff; back before smart phones I had bought cds of environmental sounds; down at the beach, in the woods, rain, etc. I even had an alarm clock that would play its environmental sounds for you when you go to bed but they were generated and probably not much more than 8 bit and looped noticeably. I should rip those environmental sound cds and put them on my phone (assuming I can find them and I remember how to rip a cd).
