Metta posted a link to how others (some black congressmen) felt about Scalia's remarks. Not sure what the issue is considering that they did in fact criticize Scalia.

With people like Trump and Scalia making headlines it's painfully obvious that a portion of this country is backsliding into its old white supremacist ways. The racist rhetoric being tossed around is worse than it's ever been in my lifetime.

I hate to shatter your ultra leftist ego but it is more than just a portion of this country. If Trump keeps up his positive momentum and more Americans keep flocking to him and supporting him, your democrats could end up becoming toast in 2016 especially if they nominate the most corrupt and most unqualified candidate as their choice for President, the hapless Hillary ho. I do not agree with Trump on many of his viewpoints but he could defy all odds and get elected President of the U.S.

Scalia neither "suggested" nor "endorsed" this (as Harry Reid asserted).

Anyone with an actual brain would have recognized this as spurious from the start. The NY Daily News cover story was what sparked the original white Liberal ignorant outrage. (NBC picked it up as sloppy seconds, something at which that outlet has become quite adept.)

"SUPREME DOPE" by A. Edelman. This was bomb-throwing, which the editors at the NYDN encourage around the newsroom.

Read the transcript - Scalia was clarifying an argument which was being made. His remarks were taken way out of context, a classic pernicious journalistic practice which many writers, in this case Edelman, regularly botch.

Whether Scalia believes the proposition is not at issue - he was only pointing to it as an argument that is often made. Frankly, I agree with the argument. Blacks are socially and economically disadvantaged - white Liberals constantly harp about this, so why are they shocked when blacks turn out to be educationally disadvantaged as well?

For white Liberals to express outrage over this is intellectually dishonest and also blows their entire race narrative to hell.

Roberts helpfully weighed in by asking if the presence of black students in a physics class confers any benefit to the study of that subject (the answer is obviously "no," another hate fact which drives the Left NUTS).

This. But none of these guys even read the original story, so they're not going to care about this. It's OK, Maddow will tell them what to think about it.

How dare Scalia question an advocate's oral argument! And in his own courtroom, no less! What is this world coming to? icon_rolleyes.gif

I don't know what Scalia really meant by his comments but they didn't sound good. It sounded like he was generalizing about minority students. However, there is some truth to what he is saying. Some minority students get accepted to schools they really don't have the aptitude to attend and they end up not doing well. The same thing would happen if we took white students and put them in institutions they didn't belong in. They would fall behind. This isn't good for them or anyone else.

As a side note (and perhaps unrelated to this example), the left really needs to stop calling everyone racists and bigots whenever one of these controversies erupts. I know they feel empowered by the use of the terms, but it's adolescent and intellectually bankrupt. And it has created a toxic environment in which people feel afraid to express an opinion. This is not merely unfortunate but can lead to real harm, as happened when the neighbors of Syed Farook didn't report suspicious activity at his home because they didn't want to be accused of racial profiling.

Hurling stink bombs into a crowded room and then watching the ensuing chaos from his secured, gated community.

    Pathetic.

The outrage industry would have much less success if there was more critical thinking going on.

Scalia only referenced an argument. He may or may not agree with it, but the Left is predictably and childishly jumping on it as an "aha, gotcha." I hope they never change, the poor dingbats.

You're right - the NY Times has been running its "Be Nice To Muslims Or Else" campaign now for 14 years and three months to the day. The pernicious white Liberal Left has succeeded in scaring people into silence.

I say if you see Muslims acting weirdly, CALL THAT SHIT IN.

Actually just thinking, period. The white Liberal Left runs solely on emotion.

Do more than that: Be on the lookout for it, and ALL illegal behavior, and call it in! "Get involved in your community," but not the way the community organizers" would have you do so.

It sounds like you're saying Scalia's comment was racist but that there's truth to what he's saying, but you also don't think you're a racist.... My point is that you and Donald Trump and Scalia are giving moderate white men a bad name.

Btw, would you say white men with confederate flags are suspicious enough to report as terrorism suspects, or does racial profiling only happen for minorities?

Really don't know what you're point is here and not all that interested in trying to figure it out. Go back and read my comment. It really isn't tough to understand. And don't tell me I'm giving anyone a bad name. Snarky condescending men like you give gays a bad name.

Regarding your point about men riding around with Confederate flags, I might. It would depend on the circumstances. Nice try though.
