I've been out in the ocean with one or two hanging down from a cloud but I've never seen four in a row like that. That's a gorgeous photo.

Were there really 4 tornadoes touched down at once? WOW!

Yeah, the Christian fundies are quick to say gays are to blame for these natural disasters. Hurricane Katrina that devasted New Orleans being one example.

I wonder how they'll explain this? I'm sure they'll figure a way to pin this on gays in the days ahead.

As long as state of Texas doesn't ask for government help or monetary relief, am OK with their current predicament. It maybe punishment for all the attacks on gay people, I may know a few people in this particular area of Texas and not in a good way. The very nice guy that I am cant help but think these people are getting what they deserve icon_cool.gif

    Instant Karma.....

My cousin lives in Plano and my aunt and uncle are visiting for Christmas. I spent the morning making sure they were ok. I assure you none of them are anti-gay as is true of probably most of their neighbors who were hurt and had property destroyed. This thread is about as ignorant and callous as anything I've read here. For your sake and that of Bragging Bobby, I hope God doesn't decide to punish stupidity.

Yeah, wake up. Houston and Dallas have huge gay communities, and last I checked, tornadoes don't discriminate. Were the gays supposed to put lamb's blood on their front doors?

Just WOW... what an awful thing to say! Those families that lost their homes and lives did NOT deserve that anymore than someone from your neighborhood.
Being the "very nice guy that I am"... I think I'll just bite my tongue right now.

Yeah, (in general) Texas tends to be an ignorant place, but not everyone there is hateful or ignorant. Wishing destruction to an entire state is actually just as ignorant as the things you're bashing it for . There are good hearted people everywhere so you have to be careful about saying things like that.

That photo isn't from Texas, they are waterspouts photographed off the coast of a Greek island. The image didn't hit the internet until 2009/10, but turns out it was originally taken in 1999.

Sorta like the attitude of muslims in the middle east cheering about the tragedy of 911?

I am afraid that none of us will be immune from these type of disasters. I was just listening today(on NPR) If people knew how risky and far over due the big earthquake in the Los Angles area: your home correct??...they would move instantly. They say that this can happen any time. RU READY? Do you have an escape plan? They say that millions will die!!!

I know folks in that area and surrounding cities. They were all spared, but scared senseless. I was out of state for Christmas visiting my folks when it was happening and my next door neighbor posted a video out his window of the storm.

I don't think it's Karma and I don't wish this type of destruction on LA or the anyone *hum hum... * from there.

I just came back home today and there's people without electricity still and having to stay with relatives or in a hotel since it's too cold to stay at home till they can repair all the lines. I feel lucky that it didn't take my place or any of my loved ones or friends.
Normally this type of destruction happens in Oklahoma or Kansas. North Texas rarely sees this type of weather.
Heavy winds perhaps,, but not that many tornadoes.
Plus, that usually happens in May, closer to Mother's Day weekend.

Not if you know, what I know and what was done to me by 'Texass' and its people. My issue with Texass is all work related. I might as well just come out and tell everyone here on RJ but I am not comfortable in this forum. With so many dam trolls and sock accounts, you never know 'who maybe watching or listening'.

I am no where near has hateful as RoadRageRob as he has lived there but I do hold ill will towards that state, especially someone living and liking SoCal. You have to understand the ill will to begin with between both states, TX and CA to understand exactly why we hate each other.

Without divulging too much, I can tell you these storms hit right in the heart of the cause of so many of our countries problems, its been under 'the radar' for a long time now, and I am telling you, these people got what they deserve. Why should I forgive the Christian Illuminati for what they did to me and have been doing to America? These people think that Obama is a Muslim. They are evil and the good side was just catching up to them in the form of destructive punishment. Karma works both ways, it has to be paid at some point, the law of cause and effect.

Its no surprise that the big F4 tornado hit the GW Bush Highway (I-30). Part of 'their' punishment involves this man. What I am talking about here is the "men behind the curtain". What they seem to be, isn't reality and I had to find that out the hard way, unfortunately.

To say that I am pissed at Texass and the people who run the state is an understatement. Just look at their mentors. Rick Perry, Ted Cruz, Ken Paxton, fine upstanding felon's! These crooks in Texass power have many underlings 'paid off', even people in other states that they control. Now that Toyota has decided to join the felon party, I would not recommend buying one, in a years time or so, their cars will be that of China's, unregulated quality.

Believe me Radd, I am just dying to tell everyone, there is just something that is holding me back, namely, a death wish from those evil christians behind the curtain, that are "CIA" and "NSA" attached. The issue is much bigger than these storms and the destruction they caused.

Yes, we are in 'a war'. And Texass, its businesses and its right wing people, lead the evil side icon_twisted.gif

    Seek help!

Stereotyping all the residents of a state is ridiculous and small minded. These people didn't loose their lives because of what "ill" thing was done to you.
That's all Westboro Baptist type of mentality. Just because there are some idiots in Texas, does not mean you don't have idiots in California. Idiots roam the world. Clearly, Cali has one more.

Wacko conspiracy theories aside, let me offer some perspective on Texas vs California based on my own personal experiences living in Houston (the largest city in Texas and the 4th largest in the U.S.) and Los Angeles.

I found the gay community in Houston of the early 1980s to be much more widespread and visible citywide, as opposed to L.A. where they're still largely sequestered into their own little enclaves (WeHo, Silverlake, Belmont Shores, Laguna). In my part of town there are still very few openly gay, single guys (but a shitload of "bi masc DL" guys on Grindr).

Working for Exxon in the early 80s there were many openly gay employees. I once brought a male "plus 1" to a major corporate function and nobody so much as blinked. When I moved to L.A. and joined an aerospace company I learned that I'd be fired if they found out I was gay, based on ineligibility to hold a government security clearance, so I had to slink back into the closet eight hours a day. To this day I haven't met a gay man at my company who's "out" at work; two lesbian co-workers who married each announced their impending weddings separately, without telling anyone they were marrying each other (they've loosened up a bit now and will tell people privately but it isn't public knowledge).

My gym in Houston, in the conservative Bellaire neighborhood, was at least a third gay and there was never a problem. My current gym in Hawthorne (the Latino hood) is not a place to parade your sexual identity around.

Houston has had an openly lesbian mayor (Annise Parker) since 2010 - it's a two-year term and she's been re-elected twice. Previously, Kathy Whitmire, a single woman who was a vocal supporter of gay rights and widely believed to be lesbian, was elected to five consecutive terms and served as mayor from 1982 to 1991. Both women had previously served as city controller, an elected position; Kathy was actually used as the model for Dustin Hoffman's female persona in "Tootsie". Has L.A. ever elected an LGBT mayor? EVER???

Granted Houston has had some horrificly homophobic incidents (Google the 1991 murder of Paul Broussard). But there are many, many parts of L.A. where I sure wouldn't hold hands with a date.

I greatly prefer living in L.A. - for the climate and the lifestyle. But for my money Houston is a much better place to be gay.

This fucking false dichotomy of rewarding and punishing humans is what is causing the most damage to humanity.

Well according the whacko Christians that live there, they got God to move the tornado to the west, so as to kill a bunch of children in a neighboring town. I think that qualifies as controlling the weather. They didn't specify their reasons why those children had to die, but God must have believed them.

Clearly God is a vengeful one, a not so kind one too at that. What is it about the pious that the words "kind" and "fair" escape them? The Hippocratic oath - do no harm.

God can clearly kill anyone if He wishes too, but obviously using "natural" events is a more efficient way to kill people?

    Lunacy and delusional
