Even if they get the required amount of signatures to put it on the Nov ballot, expect HEAVY backlash from the republican controlled government and its legislators, not to mention the state of Michigan, 6th circuit court controlled, Reagan Democrat, tea party base.
They should be able to get enough signatures but I wouldn't be surprised if the right wing launch a complete fear mongering campaign (as they always do), complete with bathroom scaring, child molesting, school indoctrination, workplace christian rights, type videos that will probably be affective at the ballot box, majority red state Michigan people are not that bright
This sounds like it is going to be very messy, Michigan is very homophobic and segregated. In the last decade or so, the state has lost a majority of it gay community due to the unfriendly laws and its job loss. Whatever is left of the gay bars or clubs have to share 'gay nights', with 'straight nights' because there just isn't enough gay people to go around.
Should be interesting to see come Nov, despite the resistance of the right wing controlled state government, if the people of Michigan actually vote to amend their constitution. As we know, the tea turd 'constitution' party will be all over this.
