Solid U.S. Economy Anchors World's Turbulent Waters

NYT: The Chinese stock market is plummeting so fast that authorities there keep shutting it down. North Korea set off a bomb in a nuclear test. Two of the Middle East’s great powers, Saudi Arabia and Iran, are eyeing each other menacingly. In the European Union, political extremists are on the rise, migrants are pouring in and Britain may drop out (three phenomena that are not unrelated).

And in the United States, the number of people filing unemployment claims is hovering near the lowest levels in four decades, the jobless rate may well fall below 5 percent for the first time since 2007, and whatever the noise on the presidential campaign trail, Congress recently passed bipartisan legislation to keep the government running comfortably into next year.

Seven days in, 2016 is shaping up to be a chaotic year in global economics and geopolitics, with profound challenges nearly everywhere. Except, for now at least, in the world’s largest economy. The American economy is acting as a steadying force in a volatile world.

You are an idiot for wanting that unqualified, corrupt whore in the White House. If you really want this economy to be strong, vote for Donald Trump, a businessman and real estate developer who understands economics. The hapless Hillary ho doesn't know jack shit about the economy except when it comes to lining her own pockets and feeding her own self aggrandizement.

Oh yes very strong. $19 trillion in debt, $1 trillion annual trade deficit, $250 trillion in unfunded liabilities, depleted gold reserves, very strong fundamentals indeed. That's like me saying I'm $500k in debt, spend more than I earn, have no savings but am "very strong financially". Unbelievable people believe this garbage.

He is a successful businessman and real estate developer who is far more qualified for the Presidency than the hapless Hillary ho.

Employment lags the rest of the economy. Democrats Zero Interest Rate economic bubble has burst.

    Now for some reality:

Soooo....you're confirming that Trump will run the country like a weak and failing business?

Maybe you need that lesson yourself. Running a sovereign state is not the same as a business.

    1. macroeconomics =/= business administration

    2. Donald Trump's companies have declared bankruptcy 4 times to get out of paying debt. Trump collects a salary from these failing businesses, declares them bankrupt, and that's how he profits from taking money he never has to repay. Mitt Romney, and all those wealthy Republicans do the same.

    3. Real estate developer? Most "Trump" real estate is owned by someone else. They just pay Trump for the right to use his name. He's mostly a celebrity and TV personality.

    4. Trump came from money.

You have that all wrong about the hapless Hillary ho, she has everyone beat when it comes to self aggrandizement and ambiguity. She is one of if not the worst liar in American politics. She is more power hungry and corrupt than all the other Presidential candidates combined. On top of that her lackluster political career reveals a woman who had everything handed to her and that she was a disastrous flop as Secretary of State. She did nothing as a U.S. Senator except ride on the coat tails of Senator Chuck Shumer for all her so called accomplishments. Her health care plan during the early years of the Clinton Administration was a disaster and that helped pave the way for republicans to take control of both Houses of Congress. This bumbling bitch is totally unqualified for the Presidency.

Republicans have got her beat by light-years in this department. [/quote]
