This is amazing! There are a couple of things that I'm worried about, though.

#1: It says that the device is place under the skin. Does this mean that it must be surgically implanted? And if so, how old does one have to be in order to get it?

#2: It says that it connects to a smartphone, but what if someone isn't lucky enough to have one? Or what if someone is too young to own one? Would it work just as well if it connected to a family member's device?

#3: How much will it cost? It never mentioned the approximate price range of this artificial pancreas, but it did say that it cost around $13 million to produce. I'm assuming that that includes all of the research that went into it, but I'm still worried that it's going to be freakishly expensive.

All in all, though, this is going to be an incredible advancement in the world of medicine! I can't wait to show this to my little sister (she's only 10 and suffers from type 1 diabetes)
