    The Bible

"When an unclean spirit goes out of a person, it passes through waterless places looking for rest but does not find it.
    Matthew 12: 43

    Science

Interference has been demonstrated with photons, electrons, atoms, and large molecules.

Demonstrating interference with photons is an easy classroom demo.

Demonstrating interference with atoms or molecules is trickier and far more expensive.

In describing the interference of light waves, we noted that to get a well-defined interference pattern, the light should be of a single color. That means light of a narrow range of frequencies and wavelengths. The same applies for atoms. The atoms should all have essentially the same de Broglie wavelength, which just means they should all come with the same speed.

Since each atom's wavefunction followed a rule that depended on the spacing of the slits, something of each atom must have come through both slits. Each atom itself must have been a spread-out thing coming through both of the well-separated slits.

The wavefunction divided into both boxes is the complete description of the physical situation.

Here is how the atoms were put into the box pairs.

Any wave can be reflected. A semitransparent mirror reflects part of a wave and allows the rest to go through. A glass windowpane, for example, allows some light through and reflects some.

At the glass, the wavefunction of each individual photon splits. Part of the photon wavefunction is reflected and part is transmitted. We can also have a semitransparent mirror for atoms. It splits an atom's wavefunction into two wave packets. One packet goes through, and another is reflected.

The arrangement of mirrors and boxes allows for the trapping of the two parts of an atom's wavefunction in a pair of boxes.

We send in a single atom at a known speed and close the doors of the boxes when the wavefunction packets are inside the boxes. After that, each part of the wavefunction bounces back and forth in its box.

With a scanning tunneling microscope, for example, we can pick up and put down single atoms.

Holding an atom in a box without disturbing its wavefunction is tricky but doable.

Dividing the wavefunction of an atom into well-separated regions is accomplished in every actual interference experiment with atoms.

    = = =

Water reflects, thus causing a spirit to part in two: one part keeps going, the other part is reflected--this creates discomfort for a spirit?

Also consider Star Trek transporter room. 100% of the body must come through. How can there be complete compact thing in both boxes of the double-slit experiment done with atoms as opposed to photons?

When our consciousness lives on, after the compact body, the spirit's existence is as a wavefunction.

    Response:

The double slit is a misconception based upon the assumption that they are shooting out individual balls they call "electrons".

But there is no such thing as a ball electron. That model was replaced back in the 1950's with an "electron cloud" model.
The atomic model by Bohr showing the electron balls orbiting the nucleus has been known to be incorrect for over 75 years.
But they still use that diagram in text books as a "simplification" for people to get the model.
(so pretty much they teach everyone incorrectly at the start and then only teach the more accurate models to nuclear physics students and grad students who specifically seek out that information and field of study)
Everyone else moves on their life thinking the ball electron atom model is real.

So the entire double slit experiment is really just an assumption to begin with.
There is no particle wave-duality. All that is crap.

Your criticism of electron balls vs. electron clouds applies to one type of interference experiment. It is done with light, but it is also done with atoms. And of course, it is done with a "cat". As I read further, apparently, the wave vs. collapsed/condensed isn't the issue where part of one is lost into a second box. There are two that collapse to one upon observation.

The double-slit experiment done with atoms seems to imply double universes or double layers of the universe or double layers of reality.

Of course, one is not limited to doing a double-slit experiment. One could have 100 slits. So, we have to go with the multi-verse model of Reality. Yes?
