Hey RJs in Canada, I'm faced with making a decision between living in Edmonton or Winnipeg for the next three or four years for law school. I really want to stay in Vancouver but I'm not sure if I'll get an acceptance here.

Anyone who has lived in these cities, what are they like? How accepting are people of gay people of colour?

Both are horrible, but I think you may prefer Edmonton

It's a little more lively, sales tax 5%, close to the mountains and I guess a short drive to Calgary / Vancouver

Edmonton gets fucking cold. Like really fucking cold.

Winnipeg, gets colder. Like really fucking colder. Plus they have more bugs.

Edmonton is a horrible city. It's ugly as fuck but you aren't too far from calgary which is nice. I would vote Edmonton as it is closer to everywhere else. I imagine the gay community is small and shitty or non existent in both places.

That sucks. I think I can handle the cold...but I am leaning a bit towards edmonton. Coming from Vancouver, both winnipeg and edmonton would be quite the culture shock!

    ^^

because of the decline in oil (a big deal in Alberta), almost all industries: retail, real estate, oil, gas, restaurants

do some serious homework before moving
