NYT: The rise in passing and scoring lines up with the rise in N.F.L. ratings, popularity and revenue. So what has Trump been watching?

Who cares? Trump is disgusting. I can't believe I actually know someone who thinks he's great. The Republican Party has been the party of ugly for a while but that such a big chunk of them are willing to be led by this guy has now officially crossed a line into Fascism. Remember, Hitler was elected and I bet there were a bunch of Germans who thought at the time that that could never happen.

FYI, it is not about being a Republican in Trump's case. I think it is more about people that want to be dominated by someone that makes them feel safe:

Once again, I find myself agreeing w/ Trump: the NFL IS boring, or "crummy," as he actually said. Not until now, around the time of the playoffs, does it get exciting; same for MLB to a lesser degree, and for the NBA to a greater one. Of course, if it's post-scoring antics you're after, the pros dominate the gridiron and court in that department. And sure, the pros execute well, as the Patriots proved to perfection last Saturday, but overall college ball is SO much more exciting, and consistently so, w/o the embarrassing end-zone displays of egotism. I do disagree w/ Donald's diatribe about head-on contact; the new rules prohibiting it are overdue and should be strictly enforced, along with others aimed at decreasing bodily harm, but he has a point and once again, I admire him for speaking his mind, whether he's right once, twice or never in a day.

Hitler was not elected. That is false. He was named chancellor in a power sharing deal with Hindenburg and the circle around Hindenburg who ultimately decided to appoint Hitler chancellor in January 1933.

Then the Reichstag building burns under very suspicious circumstances.

After that there was a "temporary" suspension of freedoms. We know how the rest of this goes.

    Don't spread false information.

Yes as you guessed there were a bunch of Germans who did not think it could happen. They also had no idea what he was capable of until it was too late. I guess they thought Mein Kampf was a work of fiction.

OK... my main point is Trump's appeal is broader than the "Republican" label. That is how he is being underestimated.

Personally I like the football season. It helps to decrease the traffic on the freeways. icon_smile.gif

No there not, Carolina Panthers are going to keep Arizona out of the Super Bowlicon_biggrin.gif

The problem with NFL football is that it has become too corporate and too focused on big money rather than the game itself. icon_sad.gif

I especially like big football weekends when going to the shopping mall. The Super Bowl is best, the malls are practically deserted by mid afternoon, the parking easy, the floors free of crowds. And the store clerks are glad to see you and assist you.

At least the women are. Some of the men are annoyed they had to work and couldn't be home to watch the game, to drink beer and eat junk food with their buddies on the sofa, while their wives are relegated to making food dishes in the kitchen for the men. No wonder the women who get to escape that subordinate's duty are happy to work in the mall stores instead.

You're not American so we (who are Americans) wouldn't expect you to understand how much we love the game.
