NYT: A new, carefully designed study of the effects of gluten-free diets on athletic performance suggests that giving up gluten may not provide the benefits that many healthy athletes hope for.

Unless your are dying of a wheat allergy. Ask Robb Wolfe about that. Rob wolf.com

The women in the article went on a crappy artificial food diet instead of a natural Paleo diet. No gluten diet does not mean eat more artificial crap.

Sorry, gluten free is not BS. Celiac disease is a real condition and it can really screw up your life if it isn't managed properly. People who don't eat gluten because of a diet trend are a different matter entirely.

This. Im Celiac and at no time do i eat anything actually labeled gluten free. Whole natural food has no gluten. Any artificial food is shit, same for anything that comes from a package. Loaded with shit.. all of it! Natural Paleo all the way..

Like most diet fads, this all started because *some* people are actually gluten intolerant. Then there was a flawed study claiming that everyone was to some extent.

The person who performed that study found that odd, given that gluten has been present in food for millennia, and re-did the study with controls in place to prevent false results. Lo and behold, unless you actually *have* a gluten intolerance, your body could care less about you eating gluten....big surprise there.....

"Gluten" has nothing to do with gluttony; it doesn't make you fat.

It's only an issue if you're allergic to it.

You know how I feel when I hear people say "ew gluten"? It makes me want to scream at a movie screen. That's how I feel.

It's obviously well-established that gluten is Latin for gluttony.

I spent a year only eating at Chinese buffets. Just for fun. I made some great gains. Most food diets are dumb. No science behind them just silly fat people looking for a quick fix to get in shape. Food is not the issue. Food is food is food. Calories in and calories out. Calories are just energy. A calorie is not a thing, it is just an energy amount. People get so caught up in what they eat and not in how much they eat.

Apart from those who have actually been diagnosed (by a medical doctor, not some bs naturopath or whatever) with celiac disease, there is NO reason anyone should be avoiding gluten.
