    Good advice in general

Why juicing, gluten-free and the Tom and Gisele diet’s gotta go

It really is—I also say there’s like six things that take us 95% of the way towards a healthy lifestyle, not including things like socioeconomics and genetics, just the actions we can take as individuals.

One, don’t smoke. It sounds ridiculous but it’s one of the most obvious things. If you smoke, nothing else you do matters.

Two, get some exercise. Real, vigorous exercise. Follow an active lifestyle.

Three, eat real food and try to maintain a healthy weight. There’s no magic there: lots of fruits and vegetable, and ignore the junk.

Four, sleep. There’s increasing data around sleep emerging, about how important that is.

Five, take preventative steps: wear a seatbelt, wear a bike helmet. Drink in moderation.

Six, love someone. There’s emerging data on importance of good relationships. It sounds so New-Agey but I think that one’s important. Relationships matter.

    Academy of Science

WASHINGTON -- To meet the body's daily energy and nutritional needs while minimizing risk for chronic disease, adults should get 45 percent to 65 percent of their calories from carbohydrates, 20 percent to 35 percent from fat, and 10 percent to 35 percent from protein, says the newest report on recommendations for healthy eating from the National Academies' Institute of Medicine.

To maintain cardiovascular health at a maximal level, regardless of weight, adults and children also should spend a total of at least one hour each day in moderately intense physical activity, which is double the daily minimum goal set by the 1996 Surgeon General's repo

Is two hours of exercise three days a week OK?

Workout at home, and eat fewer calories... unless you're trying to get big, in which case, eat more calories.

" ...adults should get 45 percent to 65 percent of their calories from carbohydrates..."

That is probably correct, yet some people see carbohydrates as bad and recommend practically eliminating them from the diet.
