    From The Economist...

As the report from the Social Security trustees makes clear, the fund is running down and will be exhausted by 2034.

    ------------------------------------------------
Social Security is a slush fund for politicians. Funds are used to prop up the welfare system, fund disabled immigrants, lax oversight of young people claiming disability, etc.

True, it's been changing for 4.7 billion years. Why on earth would it stop now?

Well then if that's true then it isn't "more reliable/predictable"

It's predictably and reliably warming at an unprecedented rate.

It's a heat wave here folks....and I am sure there will be no SS funds left when I would need them. That's why I am not planning on them!

Not enough people are working full time to pay into the system.

Benefits need to be means tested which Democrats reject.

When FDR started Social Security, the age to collect benefits was 65 and Americans lifespan was 65.

Now American's lifespan is almost 79.

If Democrats confiscate the entire wealth of the top 5% of Americans and then euthanize them, it won't solve the problem.

It will be broke a lot sooner than that. The trust funds are just IOUs. Once the government has to dip into those, that will be when taxes go up or benefits get cut (not very likely with millions of baby boomers on it).
