Well, "the guest room" is too easy.

Found another pair out by the hot tub today.

Found another pair under the settee cushion on the boat last week.

I've noticed a certain... caliber... of guest strips off and neatly stacks all his gear right at the front door. I think these guys have studied the issue...

i have a laundry fairy. It is either on, being cleaned or neatly folded in the drawer it lives in.

Where, in your house, do stray underwear turn up?

Behind the bottom built-in drawer, in the dressing alcove. Constructed before I moved in, if I overfill either of the top drawers, my shorts fall down to the floor in back. Because the cabinet builder didn't construct bottoms for each slide-out drawer space, like furniture might have.

So I periodically have to pull out the lowest drawer off its brackets, and fish around in the back for any stray underwear laying on the floor. Other than that, we never have underwear turning up anywhere it shouldn't be.

I used to have a little terrier that would steal socks (never underwear) and hide them between the sofa cushions. Many a house guest fell victim to his antics.

I have a dryer that steals socks. Twelve go in, eleven come out.

For my underwear to stray, I first would have to wear it.

Back when my Doggie Girls were Puppy Princesses, and I was working in the city all day, and had no proper latching door on my closet... I would come home and find my laundry all over the yard. They must have made quite a few trips up and down the stairs. icon_rolleyes.gificon_eek.gif

I think the best stray underwear story I've heard comes from Jeremy Paxman (a well known British journo and writer).

While researching for his book "On Royalty", he was invited to stay at one of The Queen's residences for the weekend. After a day out in the wet and muddy English countryside with the Royal party, the underpants he had been wearing all day were in such a sorry state that, fearing one of the renowned Royal Household staff might find them in his room, he lobbed them high on top of a wardrobe, well out of sight, got ready for dinner and promptly forgot about them. On returning home the next day, he was unpacking his overnight bag, when he found said stray underpants, washed, pressed, folded and wrapped in tissue paper.

^ That reminds me of a time, during an extended stay at a small hotel in rural Spain. One day I was putting my laundry away and noticed for the first time that my (freshly washed and pressed) white briefs had bright-yellow or bright-red stitching.
    Odd...
It took me a day or two to realize that I had brought yellow and red briefs with me, but now they were all blinding white! Maybe the maid had some religious objection to colored underwear? WTF do they use for laundry powder over there, anyway?

That wasn't the Spanish washing powder, it was the Spanish sun!
