I know there's no magic bullet, but I'm open to any tips and tricks to get the weight off faster. I have 4 weeks and want to maximise my efforts.

I'm running 3-4 times per week and include light weights about the same (sometimes just a short blast after a short 5km run)

Diet tips? Caffeine pills? Running techniques (fartlek)? Fasting? Certain weights exercises?

Anything will help. Thanks guys. I promise to show you my progress.

My advice is, Don't count your calories, but make your calories count.

Counting worked for me... But that's not to say I just ate tons of salt, sugar and fat. Calorie counting is a matter of simple math you just have to temper it with good nutrition

    Drink plenty of water.

If you think you're problem is over-eating, there are some tricks for reducing portion sizes:
    - use a smaller plate. The portions will look bigger and it can help fool your brain into thinking you ate more than you did
    - eat plenty of high fiber foods, which make you feel full
    - eat more slowly and stop before you feel full. Give your body time to catch up and feel satisfied, and if after a while you really are still hungry, let yourself have more if you think you haven't had enough
    - eat spicy food. It can help you feel full more quickly and can also temporarily increase your metabolism a little.
    - don't wait until you're starving to eat. Your self control will be better if you aren't completely ravenous

I've also heard that eating 4-5 smaller meals throughout the day instead of 2-3 larger meals is better for your body. It provides your body with nutrients as it needs them. Most of the recommendations I've seen call for having more snack-like meals like a handful of raw almonds and an apple or a chicken breast with a cup of broccoli. Not always the most appealing meal choices, but you can adapt what you normally eat to a different schedule. The main focus seems to be more protein, more veggies, more "good" fats, and less sugar and "bad" fats.

Also make sure you get plenty of good quality sleep. Might seem unrelated to weight loss specifically, but the body needs time to rest and digest food properly and utilize nutrients for healing and repair and growth.

    Hope that helps.

The best way I ever dropped weight is when I was standing up doing curls and someone bumped into me.

troll, i mean just read the post

i recall there was a post last year some peeps here were getting rapid near death results using ephedrine or clenbuterol. If the realjock.com SEARCH function is still working you will find this about mid August 2015.

Best if you google how to self medicate on these or know someone experienced and still alive.

    cheers /whatever.

Yeah...there is a "magic bullet". Works just about every single time.
    Its BRUTAL...but it works:

    LOWER YOUR CARB INTAKE!
    LOWER YOUR CARB INTAKE!
    LOWER YOUR CARB INTAKE!
    LOWER YOUR CARB INTAKE!

Helps me to fast at least once a week. Assuming I'm getting my macros on the other days, I try to cut that day down to at least the minimum protein (somewhere between USDA recommendation and whatever body weight calculation is convenient) and maybe a little fat (less than the usual ratio though), with a little fresh vegetable for filler. No recognizable carbs whatsoever on that day.

Seems to help keep regular healthy-diet fat loss going at a more consistent pace the rest of the week.

Really never have had to do it, but I have found I've dropped weight by drinking water, exercising and being careful how much I eat. It really is magic.. and a basic approach!

Paleo diet is the magic bullet. The body will reboot if you just feed it the fuel it was designed to eat . Losing 5 lbs a week is often a scary proposition though.

When my brother decided that he should lose weight he just stopped eating for a few days. It worked. I myself cheated; I just avoided gaining too much weight which was not difficult.

Agree with Alpha13. This worked for me too combined with regular exercise, lots of water and enough sleep.

    1. Don't overdo it on the exercise. You can actually make your cravings worse. 30min-60min per workout 5X a week is plenty.

    2. After lunch/dinner try a 15 min walk to help with digestion and sleepiness.

    3. Veggies and healthy homemade soups are your friends. Load up on them and they will keep you way fuller, with less calories and will keep you regular and hydrated.

Snowboarding/skiing can be pretty effective. If you go hard, you can feasibly burn 3k calories per day and have fun doing it. I am hoping to drop 5 pounds over 6-7 days on the slopes this season. Granted, it's easier to do when you live near the mountains icon_smile.gif

Seriously cut down on simple carbohydrates, increase protein and concentrate weight training. Very moderate cardio.

only way to loose a lot of fat in that short amount of time frame is to use dnp. It's pretty dangerous depending on the dose your taking though, so I wouldn't recommend. If you want to actually lose fat and keep it off its more of a lifestyle you need to live. Basically lower calories and increase caloric output progressively as you start to plateau. Don't really need to worry about much else. But to put things into perspective a lb of fat is 3500 calories, so to burn 1lb of fat in a week you would need to either eat 500 calories less than your maintenance, or burn 500 calories through exercise you weren't already doing, or a combination of the two. Since your like most gay men you probably don't care about the fat you loose but what weight you loose so I would say just starve yourself for the next 4 weeks. On week 4 (assuming you have an event or something planned for that weekend) start drinking like 2gallons of water a day. Then friday cut it down to 1 gallon, and stop drinking water at 5pm. Your body will be used to getting rid of 2 gallons of water and you'll keep pissing that equivalent out, and walhaa you probably lost like 10-15 even though like 75% was water, 20% was fat and 5% was muscle.

Have you tried the man on the cross diet?
    Works wonders really.

Why four weeks? Are you planning on getting cryogenically frozen and put on display?

Stay away from fad diets like paleo, atkins, etc. you have to find what works best for you and not what the latest rage is. Eat clean. Talk to a nutritionist.

...or you can lose 20-30 pounds in five days if you follow this guide:

20-30 lbs? I call bullshit. The only time I lost that much was via a parvovirus. Not recommended.

I dropped five or six lbs last month just by switching dinner to a light snack. No beer. I don't know how you keep up a lot of cardio without shoveling in carbs, but when these short winter days cut the activity down, it sometimes takes an effor to also reduce the calories again. icon_redface.gif

As someone said, activity after dinner (as opposed to plopping down on the couch to watch TV, and shoveling down "dessert") can be very helpful.

Wow! Thanks for the wealth of insight in your responses. I'm not into any steroids or anything 'dangerous', am liking your advice on the paleo diet and drinking water and cutting carbs. I really appreciate all your help!

Oh. And it's a 4 week thing because I'm going to Sydney for work and I'd like to look my best. It might be time to . . . Well, at least be noticed by some of the hot Sydney guys around my age!

Cheers guys. Keep the suggestions comin.
