Reminds me of when General Motors created Saturn. It supposedly really was a stand-alone company. Until it seemed to be doing too well, and the other GM car divisions revolted.

After some upper-management battles Saturn lost, and was "acquired" as a GM brand. And got relegated to stepchild corporate status, even behind Chevrolet, with all the uniqueness of Saturn gone. The best they could do for new cars was rebadge some GM Opel models from Germany.

And with GM's bankruptcy and restructuring, the pesky Saturn Division was terminated, a victory for the dominant Chevrolet. I suspect as the Scion saga unfolds, a similar story may unfold. Not that Toyota has gone through bankruptcy like GM, but internal corporate politics & turf battles will be revealed.

Doesn't matter to me, Scion was no flagship of anything, little cars with no luxury or power (GMs Saturn).

I wont be a future Toyota or Lexus customer anyway since the Japanese-American company decided to sell out its Quality, pro regulation principles in favor of the de-regulated, cheap labor, high profit margin state of Texass.

I am sure Edwards Deming is rolling over in his grave, over Toyota's decision to put profits first. Toyota gets the razzie and fail award icon_redface.gif

You can read about the man, the legend here. He is the backbone of my science, the working conscience icon_cool.gif

"the inner sense of what is right or wrong in one's conduct or motives, impelling one toward right action: to follow the dictates of conscience. 2. the complex of ethical and moral principles that controls or inhibits the actions or thoughts of an individual"
