I don't think this gets acknowledged often enough. Even the would-be opposition candidates aren't IMO willing enough to accept that the American public would be willing to accept a lot of compromises or creative solutions that both parties are unwilling to even discuss.
Not many details here, though, so maybe this is just more of the same after all. The massive federal minimum wage hikes are becoming something of a litmus test for me; there are still a lot of rural economies tiny enough to be completely devastated by any minimum wage suitable for an economy like San Francisco. The more unrealistically simplistic those promises get, the less I trust the politician making them.
