The devastation! I feel we can now look America in the face.

In the more gentle left face maybe, but not along its uglier right side. Hell, in your 70 mph winds we're still out shopping last minute hurricane supplies.

I don't think you guys appreciate the gravity of the situation. We were without power for 45 minutes this evening and I've seen damage today running into the tens of pounds.

Compose yourself, Queen Mum, and have a gin. And, "make it a strong one!"

Please don't go there. I had to drive five miles this evening just to find a bottle of Dubonnet. (Doubtless as a consequence of pre-storm panic buying.)

You guys do more damage to all the cabbage you boil to death than any storm would ever do to your country.

Try to trivialize it all you like. I'll have you know that, as a result of the local storm damage, our Parish Council has declared a State of Mild Indifference, over an area of at least ten acres.

we all might have topped the tank on one too many SUV (Range Rover as the case may be) and exceptional weather forecasts are the norm not the exception.

Yes I couldn't watch Sky TV as the weather disrupted satellite receiver.

Thank you for your concern, pellaz. Thankfully, no physical injuries, but the palpitations will always be there - for an hour, perhaps two.

I must admit, no one does parody better than the British. But I'm not sure it's clear you're parodying your own reportage of this storm. It might appear to be mocking other countries, such as the US, where we do have incredibly catastrophic and deadly weather events.

Rest assured, Art, it is all self-mocking. The pic in the OP really did feature in the local press (and with that caption). The Cornish Guardian is definitely vying for the Pulitzer Prize this time.
