This isn't a sports topic, but "Outdoor Life" matched the nature theme better than "Science and Technology", so please bear with me.

    The birds are singing!

I've had a very irregular morning schedule while I recover from the various post-hernia-op side effects, and this morning is suddenly much noisier than the last couple! I also had a hummingbird flitting around my patio tomatoes and peppers yesterday, though I hear they're just confused by the climate and aren't really a seasonal sign. The days are getting longer, and the wind seems to sound a little different at night too.

Anyone else hearing the various calls of nature lately? What local signs of the changing seasons are catching your attention?

EDIT: I think that's a redbud tree blooming at the complex entrance too! Didn't expect to see them here in the Bay Area (even as landscaping accessories), and certainly not blooming in early February! Maybe it's some sort of cherry -- I'm terrible with tree identification, even in bloom -- but it looks like the redbuds we had in the Flint Hills!

EDIT 2: Definitely ornamental cherries, not redbuds. icon_sad.gif Spring is clearly on the way though!

Well, I just came in from the hot tub. I was relaxing with the jets off, listening to the frogs singing, and a flight of geese flew over, headed due north, honking sporadically. At 11:30 at night. Well - full moon. Still, I'd think they'd be nesting up this time of year. Maybe had a fight with the missus over the remote?
