Man this show has me on edge ... They left off with Taylor about to get jumped and beat up by half the basket ball team and a scene from next week with him pulling a guy from his pocket out in a field .... I hope he's not going to kill himself ... and damit someone rang the phone on the scene where he was kissing some other guy, I'm not sure if the guy is putting the move on him or if that is new bf or what? And did Eric really rape him?

    Arggg

It's actually very well written. I need to watch the last two episodes, which I have not seen yet. It's on at the same time as Chicago P.D., so I watch P.D. and tape American Crime to watch later.

I really like this show. It touches on so many social issues that are important for society to address. Education, gay rights, people that have been victims of sexual assault, inequalities in income and race.

Thank you ... I think it should be a must see for parents and high school youths and young adults ... add to your list bullying, social inequalities, coming out, being outted ... It is edgy and brings out a whole set of uncomfortable emotions people have faced or are facing as high school youth and young adults. For instance, Erics mother after her son tried committing suicide is talking to his father and says how she thinks it would have been better if he had died and how she can never take him back to church now. I was like wow, just wow. sick woman. poor kid. but then you struggle with feeling sorry for Eric because he set up Taylor to get beat up and he's totally homophobic and you're still left wondering if he raped Taylor. Don't know how it will turn out but my bet is that Kevin drugged him and Eric didn't realized he had been drugged, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see ... that's if one of them doesn't end up killing themselves first.

I think it's one of the best shows I've ever seen. I'm completely hooked by the storyline, the acting, and the directing. Gregg Araki, who is gay, directed one episode. I love how it touches on all of the uncomfortable things that people don't want to admit exist and don't want to talk about. Like you said, I'm guessing that Eric didn't realize he had been drugged. There's usually a moment in every episode that makes my jaw drop. I never watched Season One, but I'm going to go back and watch it after this is over (although I've heard this season is better).

    OMG ... I don't think I can watch anymore
Eric literally confessed to a trick he picked up on line that Taylor told him he didn't want to have sex, so, Eric has to have raped him.

And Taylor got a gun and had it in his jacket when he was confronted by and bullied by one of the guys that beat him up and Taylor shot and killed him.

I just watched episode 6, but read the spoilers so I know what's coming. I'll watch episode 7 tomorrow so I am caught up. When I watched the first episode, I didn't even recognize Felicity Huffman. She looks so different from her Desperate Housewives character. The way she plays this character of the school superintendent is really good acting on her part. Does anyone else find her character just plain creepy?

Not just creepy but also loathsome, disgusting, sneaky, underhanded. Ya, those would be good words. icon_mad.gif

Just watched episode 7. Wow, powerful! Lot's going on in this one. The one thing that still bugs me is why Taylor doesn't go to the police after getting ambushed? He could have finally gotten some movement on the part of the police toward the basketball team.

I think that comes with the inexperience of being a kid. Not sure who the guy is who he spent the night with, I think it might be a boyfriend, but he even told him to go to the cops.

What did everyone think of the finale last night? I felt disappointed. I especially did not like the ending with Taylor and his decision on the plea deal. That didn't make sense to me, even though his character stated the reasons he was taking that stance. I was glad Leslie, the school headmaster was ousted.

I was not a big fan of the finale either. The only thing I liked about it was that they didn't show Taylor plead guilty.

So really there was no justice at all, because if he pleads guilty he is charged as an adult and off to adult prison he goes to be abused and raped all over again. So your left with the feeling and hope that he changed his mind at the last minute? Did Eric get in the car or did he realize that was no kind of life?

Definitely, glad that Leslie was canned. She deserved worse. She deserved to be dragged into court for leaking Taylor's mother medical records. And I was also glad Terri lost her job for her selfish egotistical mentality and attitude.

I want to hope that Eric does not take the plea deal, but you know his aim is to spare his mother of the agony of court, and lawyer costs, etc. And there is the fact that he did kill the kid, but he was on drugs and the kid was bullying him and he did get beat up by the basketball team.

And Eric needs to admit that he raped Taylor, which he already so much as did admit it to that trick that picked up that tried to accost him an that he punched.

There was a lot going on in this show, maybe sometimes too much. And it was extremely uncomfortable to watch at times, but still all-in-all I thought it was a great show.

I'm only about halfway through watching the episodes, but I've read the preceding posts, so I have a good idea how the show is turning out. I think it's a good show, depressing but realistic. No one seems to have come out of it in good shape, and everyone's been hurt in some way, which is a lot like real life.

Taylor was raped, then beaten, through no fault of his own. He distrusts the police & doesn't want to talk to them. His mother's reputation has been dragged through the dirt, because she stands up for him publicly. And now, he's off to prison, because he shot the bully who was attacking him.

Eric hates himself because he's gay, and he's pushed away his father, who tried to help him out, and his younger brother, who's become homophobic.

Kevin's elitist mom, who's concern was only for her own family and no one else, has lost her job. She had no concern for anyone else, so it's hard to feel any concern now for her.

Wes, the good-looking bully who participated in beating-up Taylor, gets mortally shot when he starts beating Taylor again. He didn't expect Taylor to be carrying a gun this time. Not many of us are going to shed any tears for him, but it was still kind of a dark way to end up.

The Leyland School Headmistress has evidently also been terminated. She must have expected it. If you live by the sword, you die by the sword.
