KENTUCKY: Senate Panel Advances Bill To Create Separate Marriage Licenses For Same-Sex Couples

"The bill actually calls for two forms of the license, one which would list “bride and groom” and a second which would list “first party and second party.”

The measure is sponsored by Sen. Stephen West, R-Paris [inset], and is a product of the controversy which arose last summer when Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis spent five days in jail for refusing to issue licenses to same-sex couples following the U.S. Supreme Court decision which made same-sex marriage legal."

If Republicans were truly conservative you'd think they'd include in their budgeting the price of undoing discriminatory legislation for when we get comprehensive civil rights nationwide.

I'd hate to think they didn't consider the cost of pissing on people doing their business.

Separate and unequal. If it read "first party and second party" for everyone it would be more acceptable.

Liberals: your support of "Affirmative Action" is discrimination just as "Womens Health Issues" means killing babies.

Those terms don't agree with Federal spousal benefits provisions, to include those arising from military service. Therefore they could indeed be separate and unequal. With gay & lesbians couples once again denied benefits afforded to straight couples.

Furthermore, Kentucky's own laws may need revision, to protect survivor and inheritance rights for gay & lesbian couples "married" under these new provisions. If so, somehow I don't think those changes to other laws are gonna happen as quickly, if at all.

No, but it's a very accurate and appropriate thing to do. Which in a way, is part of the definition of what liberal means, anyway.

    The douchebag Refucklicunts passed it

    http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/feb/19/kentucky-senate-votes-to-create-separate-marriage-forms-for-same-sex-couples
...Kentucky’s Senate approved a bill on Thursday that creates different marriage license forms for same-sex and heterosexual couples...

...the Republican-controlled Senate amended the bill as a way to show its support for marriage between a man and a woman...

...The American Civil Liberties Union, which brought a lawsuit against Davis over the issue, said the Senate was “setting a dangerous, slippery-slope precedent by catering to one specific religious belief and privileging that over others”.

“Separate forms for gay and lesbian Kentuckians constitute unequal treatment under the law,” said Michael Aldridge, the executive director of the union’s Kentucky branch. “Pure and simple, this bill is motivated by the desire to accommodate discrimination against same-sex couples.”
