Trump candidacy is a complete disaster for the GOP, but they have no one to blame but themselves. The GOP and their media attack dog Fox News have been riling up these GOP tea party fanatics for 7 years directing their racist vitriolic rhetoric toward President Obama and trying to delegitimize his presidency.

Well guess what folks, the proverbial chickens -- in this case Donald Trump -- have come home to roost. GOP now must reap with it sowed. The GOP is terrified now. The Republican establishment is beside themselves with fear and recriminations among themselves. Don't be fooled the GOP is in complete chaos no matter what they tell you. Trump has upended the whole GOP party. They have created a monster which they cannot control.

This is probably the most important election in my lifetime and the GOP's standard bearer is a buffoon. The GOP is terrified because they know if Trump wins the Republican nomination he will be crushed by Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders -- well I am not sure about Bernie yet but I love him and his platform -- in the general election and their chances of regaining the White House will disappear for maybe a decades of more.

I hope Trump wins SC and steamrolls his way to the Republican nomination. GOP will never recover if that happens. The Congress will be the next to fall to the Democrats. Americans are really tired of these right-wing crazies trying to change America into a Christian theocracy. Moreover, they have proven that they can't govern and they obstruct everything if they don't get their way which is all the time like petulant child. The GOP love to talk about small government, but all of their policies are big government in practice, in particular on the issue of abortion. They have a crazy obsession and derangement with controlling a woman's right to her own body. It is the most intrusive thing the government or anyone can do. They are the pigs in Animal Farm.

Not much more than a wet dream from a leftist at the Huff Post.

Trump may be the best thing for the GOP, shaking up the establishment and getting independents and moderate Democrats. Already evidence of that.

Compare that to the Democratic Party:

    1) Frontrunner very likely indicted or pardoned, but regardless, completely unlikable and not considered trustworthy in multiple polls.

    2) Socialist challenger considered by party pros as unelectable.

    3) A superdelegate system exposed as rigged and corrupt and leading to major party upheaval.

All in all, the Democratic Party is the one most terrified, reported by more than one source.

If Trump wins the republican nomination and he plays his cards wisely, he could very well become our next President.

The whole intent of every political party (yes, indie's included) is to create bias among us common people so we'll hate each other for petty bullshit.

They want to keep the states united, but not the people.

Once we understand that, we'll be the United People Of America, and stand up to the tyrants who are taking every liberty we ever thought we had.

Bernie Sanders gets his contributions from the common people. And he only answers to the common people.

This is all very true. Respectable conservatives aren't into Trump's petty shenanigans. He's really ruining the party. His supporters are delusional if they think they're mainstream. People are making themselves into pariahs by supporting him.

Joe, those pariahs could very well end up being the majority of American voters come Election Day. A growing number of Americans like him and pledge to support him and it isn't just old white men over 65. There are a sizable number of millennials that love him as well.

That about sums it up. The GOP apologists will offer alternate explanations & excuses, but the evidence is right there. The GOP is fucked, because they fucked themselves. Good.

What is deemed a "respectable conservative"? Someone who toes the party line? How is Trump "ruining the party"? He may actually be revitalizing the party, something that has been long overdue anyway. How is he ruining the party if he becomes the nominee and actually wins the election? Trump is helping the Republican party grow into a larger tent, pushing the GOP establishment stiffs to the side, and this is a good thing too.

I guess being bully, a potty mouth, and a sleazy casino owner with a trophy wife are considered respectable to fundie Christians who hate gays? WTF? It would be like if Biff from "Back to the Future part II" became president. There'd be sex shops and casinos on every corner, and homeless people filling the streets.icon_confused.gif

Watch those [crazy] mixed [up] metaphors, ELNB. Last time I checked the coop, Rove-r was doing a good job of keeping the foxes away, the pigs were well cared for in their Section 8 sties (though they continue to foul them), and chickens just ate, not reaped, grain feed. And, you know what Jesus said about "the birds of the air, for they sow not ..."

The GOP is doing just fine, TYVM, and no one I know or I am afraid of anything except what further damage Obama can do to the USA in his remaining 11 months occupying the WH.

Trump dosnt add up; how can he remain in business if he continually is raging out of control.

    let me guess:
-his accountants all wear ankle bracelets.
    -he uses Russian banks
-his attorneys live in the Rikers Island death row wing

Yes, and while that may be very worthy, wiser common people know that, ultimately, a vote for Sanders will end up being a vote for Trump (a point that apparently hasn't escaped certain RJ conservatives).

Freedomisn'tfree said he'd vote for Sanders over Trump....

But, yes, if it all backfires and Trump wins, then we'll probably end up like Syria.

    Edit: fixed!

I believe FIF said he'd vote for Sanders over Trump, but most conservatives here are firmly in the Trump camp. Sanders is a good man, but he has no clear path to the White House. The same cannot be said for Trump and, if he's nominated, Clinton is the only thing that will beat him.

If Trump wins the general election by popular vote, then the country is lost. His whole campaign is based on the promise to oppress minorities. I already know from talking to people irl that the communities he's offended will protest his presidency, because they'll view it is a threat to their existence. I think Trump supporters believe that if they have the majority they can successfully, and justifiably, oppress non-white racial groups, but that's just not going to work this time around. If someone as divisive as Trump gets elected, the system will just stop functioning the way it's supposed to, because people who aren't white will stop seeing the stars and stripes as any different from the stars and bars.

While I think any "well traveled past experience" might be good to relate in most cases, this political year will probably create some new ones..... so not sure the OP's commentary will come to pass....

but I find this response to be as well. I think the reality has yet to be written.

Do you think that minorities are more important than stopping WW3 from starting because Trump is about the only person who may have a chance from stopping that from happening, we won't have sovereign nations left if we all get plunged into a world war so don't you think avoiding that is more important, Trump wants to trade and have peace with Russia and Putin wants the same, our press are lying about Putin, wake up America and get your priorities straight, there is more to life than being gay or hispanic or black or whatever minority you may be from, WW3 is on our doorsteps and everyone is bitching about pathetic things that really don't matter, get a grip.
50,000 Saudi troops have been dispatched to Syria, we are in the poop and if you think the US is going to avoid trouble you are seriously mistaken, I cannot believe this is all happening but it is, the UN are causing all this and saudi and Turkey are at the forefront of most of the trouble, Russia are actually trying to stop ISIS and the US are funding and supplying weapons, WAKE UP EVERYONE, can't you see whats happening.

Fair comment. I tend to get declarative with I read comments that are also very certain. So much is new in this election that the pundits are guessing like the rest of us.

It's not about what I think. But, since you asked, what on earth makes you think Trump or Putin are respectable leaders worth capitulating to, or even trading with? I'm sure Trump probably is Putin's top choice for a US president and future bromance, but it would be to the detriment of everyone who's not in one of the billionaire oligarchies. I'd rather have the courage to stand with the poor or minorities than to sell my soul to a couple of rich psychopaths who would kill me because I'm gay if it would give them more power. Maybe that's not a concern of yours, since you hide your face???

I actually think Clinton would be the best choice for POTUS, if you just want the US to intervene and prevent WWIII.
