Original started years ago by a corrupt liberal named Dalton McGuinty, clearly thought of making a holiday so more office/ceo people can get a break.

It's a good intention despite his ruining Ontario back then, but I feel it's demeaning towards those without families left (myself included).

To be honest I thought that's what weekends (mostly sunday's) were for, but what's your thoughts and feelings on this so called holiday?

I was in Canada when this started and I remember the argument around was this; since New Year until may there isn't a holiday for people to have a break and spend time with their family. This was indeed very thoughtful in my opinion since winter can often be a very depressing time in Canada if you happen to live in a place with nothing much to do except hang out at Tim Horton's or a grocery store or Wal-Mart.

All my family was in India but I never looked at the way you are describing. I was like yay! no waking up early morning today.

I think the whole purpose is to give people a break to not want to blow their brains out. The winter is difficult and depressing for a lot of people, especially with seasonal affective disorder. When you have to wait over two months between New Years and Easter it really helps to have something to look forward to in February when the winter is at its peak of shittyness.

Who cares what the holiday is officially about? Just enjoy having a day off.
