Says the old, fat gay Democrat.

Says the self hating homophobe using "gay" in the pejorative.

I am not sure what this guy is complaining about. If he doesn't like it in San Francisco, why doesn't he just pack up and move to Los Gatos? No homeless there to worry about.

I lived in and around San Francisco for ten years, and nothing like this man describes ever happened to me. I've always felt perfectly safe in town, even in the Tenderloin at night, or on my early morning runs in the bad part of SoMa.

He does mention the one thing that gets San Franciscans upset, and it's not homeless people. He calls it, "gentrification," but that's not it. It's random people with lots of gambling wins (they call them stock options) thinking that anyone who's not as lucky is a loser and deserves the fate they are getting - namely getting kicked out of the city they love. Or would you be able to afford a $2,000/month studio apartment on a regular salary?

I think SF is fun to visit, but I wouldn't want to have to see all those rich snotty future earthquake casualties every day.icon_rolleyes.gif

I moved to SF in 1994 and loved it there...but crime, drugs and homeless were notable problems. They're worse now, and maybe add "gentrification" and the upending of the SF culture to that list too.

But you can't blame these problems on conservatism.

SF is 100% run by liberals...a microcosm of liberal policies put into action. Liberals wink at illegal drug use...which has consequences, such as homelessness and crime. Liberals taxed SF small businesses out, which enabled so many very well funded and cash rich startups to move in and take over.

Don't worry because a good jiggle or twitch of the nearby San Andreas Fault will solve all these problems.icon_twisted.gif

Unfortunately it is the arrogance and ignorance of these techies coming to the area having no clue of what they are talking about. I have seen a change when I go into the city like anyone that lives here has seen, and if you see some of this homeless folks you need to note that the majority have mental problems or mental issues. It is such arrogance and stupidity that is more aggravating because rather than having empathy and compassion for these folks, and actually having the capacity to do something which the tech industry can - they spew this talk of a how homeless are a nuisance to them. Additionally, some of these folks are Veterans having served our nation and now not having any services to them.

Our state unfortunately has cut 22 % of its budget since 2009 in mental services that these folks previously had as well as moving them into housing, jobs, etc. Additionally, MediCal (Medicaid in other states) has been cut drastically as well. The governor and its legislature then has placed the cities in the State of California to deal with the challenge of basic having no mental resources from the State.

However, if the Major of San Francisco and its Supervisors really wanted to change things they can for the improvement of all. There are ways of still benefiting from the Tech industry and helping the homeless as well since the Governor and State Legislature are unwilling to put money into it.

That is long term monolithic rule of the Democratic Party for you. Just like the donkey dorks ruined most older northern US cities like St Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Buffalo, Baltimore, etc. they are doing the exact same thing to the City and County of San Francisco with their failed urban policies and excessive taxation so that both crooked organized labor and the unmotivated urban poor can continue their way of life courtesy of the taxpayers.
