Obama-era progress on gay rights will be a thing of the past if Donald Trump is elected president.

In an interview with Pat Robertson’s television network yesterday, Trump insisted that anti-gay conservatives can rest assured knowing that he is committed to overturning the Supreme Court’s landmark decision striking down state bans on same-sex marriage.

Trump criticized the “shocking” and “massive” Obergefell ruling.

Trump has previously said he would appoint judges to the Supreme Court who would overturn marriage equality.

That explains Trump's support by certain RJ members. Who are here to undermine and demoralize us.

Fortunately most RJ gays are smarter than these straight guys think we are. My main complaint is that they clog our threads with their political spam. They might get better results on others sites, because RJ gay members are, in my experience, pretty smart guys, many much smarter than me. Who are offended more than swayed by this programmed anti-gay propaganda.

Donald Trump had zero incentive to support gay rights, because gay republicans will vote for him, either way. Gay republicans are cowards and hypocrites. I think in many ways they're the worst perpetrators of homophobia on earth, because they're the Judas's of gay culture.

    LOL

One think for the Donald, he is a brilliant marketer. He has us talking about him here. And on the street I heard some people talking about Trump "not going to use bad language...".

Are any of you talking about other candidates you like and why they would make a great pres? People should stop talking Trump.

The only other candidate I hear a lot of talk on is Hil and the Bern. And it usually goes "can't trust her anymore and they're voting for Sanders".

    Strange times.

    Perfect timing tho.

Ginsburg needs to (but won't) retire so a like minded justice can be put in for the next 40 years.

    Ends justify the means?

Every time a politician says they will reverse a law like this, how do they expect to handle the fact that people are already married under the law? Do they have the right to *undo* a legal contract that was performed under the law as it stood? What of the financial aspects that were triggered by the change in legal status? *sigh* politicians.....

Obama-era progress an d rights of all kinds will take a hit if that man is elected. Along with such prestige abroad as the Bush catastrophe has left intact.

That is the goal of Trump and other Republicans - to reverse any law or court decision favorable to gays.

Don't forget we're here to "disrupt the [hardy-har-har] harmony" of RJ, too! icon_rolleyes.gif But, except for the grammar and poor sentence structure, you got the "smarter then me" [sic] part right.

Those who've actually watched the video excerpt will agree that Trump never said that "anti-gay conservatives can rest assured knowing that [I am] committed to overturning the Supreme Court’s landmark decision striking down state bans on same-sex marriage." What he said, as he's said before, is that he felt that gay marriage is an issue best left to the states but, as he's previously stated regarding Obergefell, that the matter is now settled; "Gay marriage is a reality." He never said in this interview that he was committed to overturning it, only that "evangelicals could trust him on traditional marriage," which could be interpreted in many ways, none of which the rather lame interviewer sought out. To not only rely on unprofessional tripe like this to make one's point, but then to further distort it to suit the OP's argument, is doubly defeating, especially when it's so easy to dismantle as here.

The goal of Trump is everyone talking about Trump.

He insults everyone to keep the discussion going, and it's working.

Look at you guys. Like a fish on a hook and Trumps holding the pole.

All he said was he felt the Supreme Court should not have made a decision for all 50 states, which from a legal standpoint makes sense. It doesn't matter what politician say, be corporations and businesses will not go to places that have big it i it doesn't matter what politician say, major businesses and commerce in general are in favor of same-sex unions. We've seen businesses pull out of places because of such bigotry, and turn the tide in deciding such issues.
And this is typical journalism, sensational and unfounded headlines . It's sad

it's not going to get overturned because since it has passed, Jesus has yet to send lightning bolts of destruction down on the earth like the church prophets anticipated.

there's literally no economic or social prospect behind changing the laws, other than appeasing the bible belt, which slowly is changing into a less retarded state anyways.

Gay marriage should not have been a) nationalized b) left up to the courts. The issue should be left to the states through popular votes. The courts are meant to adhere to what the Constitution lays out, anything not in the Constitution is meant to go to a popular vote.

However again, the Democrats stack the courts with regressive Leftists who interpret the Constitution as a political tool than by its original function. Any time the Democrats lose a popular vote, they push it through the courts.

If Trump said that, he is right. It should be overturned and left to the states through popular referendums - not federalizing marriage through Supreme Court appointees.

You may now attack me for being a "self hater" or whatever new names you come up with....

This is a very accurate assessment and within the framework of the constitution.

But it may not be what people want to hear.....since the US has become a free for all of competing pressure groups, grabbing as many "rights" as they can get their gluttonous paws on, like it's a giant buffet. Grab as much lobster and king crab legs as you can, even if you'll never eat them.

Exactly right. So typical to see RJ's resident anti-gay conservatives rushing to Trump's defense, desperately trying to explain away the bigot's anti-gay positions.
