The response from Princeton officials comes following the targeted arrest of two illegal immigrants in the town early Thursday morning, one of whom had a drunken driving conviction, an ICE official told NJ.com.

Officials in Princeton, New Jersey, are providing legal advice to illegal immigrants on how to avoid deportation, following the arrest of two local residents by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

    -------
“Remember that providing your name has risks, and that your name can be used to start a deportation process,” the pamphlet says.
    -------
An ICE spokesman told Fox News that the town’s efforts won’t impede ICE’s duties.

“It’s not gonna hinder our operations,” Alvin Phillips said. “Standard operations are still ongoing and based on priorities.”

“ICE arrests are not unfortunate,” he said. “In fact to the contrary of previous reports — ICE actions are in keeping with the laws and homeland security priorities: National Security, Public Safety and Border Security. I will also add, arrests in question are afforded an opportunity to meet with legal counsel.”

The whole sanctuary city issue is one of the reasons there is so much outrage among the voters. The San Francisco murder and the inability to get Kate's Law through Congress will be powerful points in the general election. If Trump is the nominee, it will be a huge factor for him.

BIG DIFFERENCE between actively aiding and abetting illegal conduct with public funds, and privately advising law abiding people how to protect their V & VI Amdt. rights on one's own dime, ExMil.
No wonder Princeton never gets ranked academically first in the Ivy League.

Ever since the San Francisco murder, I've changed my monthly bids to EXCLUDE San Francisco. I will never set foot in that city again.

Make that murderS, Sobe, some of which were perpetrated by illegal aliens while Cal. AG and Demo Senate hopeful Kamela Harris was that city's DA. She presided over a scandalous loss of evidence by her office, too, which resulted in hundreds of criminal prosecutions having to be dropped because she dropped the ball. But, hey, that's cool, man; "they weren't hurting anybody."
Just preying upon and killing them.

How is advising someone of their legal rights (which is what's happening in both examples) "aiding and abetting illegal conduct"?

Princeton is a liberal university town. What do you expecticon_question.gif

I am surprised that Burlington VT, Ithaca NY, Columbus OH, Bloomington IN, and Madison WI are not liberal sanctuary cities.

Because those illegal aliens' very presence here violates the law, unlike a gun owner's misfortune to lose a weapon only to see it turn up in the wrong hands or place. No one has "a legal right" to be in the US illegally.

Illegal aliens do not enjoy all of the rights granted to citizens by the Constitution, but while they are within the borders of the United States, they are granted many of the same fundamental constitutional rights granted to all Americans. You may not like it, but that is the legal position.

As for a gun owner's "misfortune" in losing a firearm, I would suggest that showing sympathy for someone who has shown recklessness or negligence in failing properly to secure a firearm is probably more morally questionable than showing sympathy for an illegal alien.

Well, we disagree re: the weapons, and we haven't even begun to discuss proximate cause or willful vs. negligent tortfeasors. But, even as vaguely as you put it, illegal aliens are entitled to some fundamental rights, but not the privileges and immunities of citizens, which they aren't. But the issue here goes more to anyone's aiding and abetting their illegal status and behavior by being and remaining here.

MGINSD, you are wasting your time as you are discussing these matters with a non-US citizen who doesn't even live in the USA. He is irrelevant.

I think MGINSD said he finds it mildly amusing, so he engages just for fun, even though we all know a foreigner's opinion is irrelevant.

An interesting legal question. Many illegals have skipped a court hearing. Even if there is not an arrest warrant, could there be action taken against someone who aided an illegal evade detection when there was a presumption they had skipped a court appearance?

    I'm shocked!

So you mean that illegals who were allowed to roam the country after being apprehended on the border by the Federal agents and then forced by the Obama administration to let them go with a piece of paper a.k.a. a notice to appear in court didn't show up for their court date?

My word, this just can't be true!

Next you'll be telling me an illegal alien murdered Katie Steinle in San Francisco!

NO NO NO - that was very racist.

illegal alien murdered should read undocumented immigrant accidentally picked up a handgun, which discharged.

It's good to know there are so many of us.

I also see the ranks growing. Once gays understand that Radical Muslims are their biggest threat, we might see a record gay Republican voter turnout.

And a record low Democrat turnout once the Bernie fans realize that the fix has been in for Hillary by the DNC all along. icon_lol.gif
They will end up voting for Trump because he is anti establishment just like Sanders.

Mayor Bill de Blasio of NYC is launching a $300,000 advertising campaign to notify young uninsured illegal aliens that many are eligible for Medicaid.

De Blasio already issues NYC ID Cards to illegal aliens who by their presence in the US are criminals violating federal law.

It appears that the city of New York is trying to become a liberal sanctuary city for illegals. Go figure.
