How is he able to run for President? Am I missing something here?

    Oh, ok:

    Main article: Natural-born-citizen clause
Further information: Ted Cruz presidential campaign, 2016 ยง Eligibility
Cruz has stated that when he was a child, his mother told him that she would have to make an affirmative act to claim Canadian citizenship for him, so his family assumed that he did not hold Canadian citizenship.[144] In August 2013, after the Dallas Morning News pointed out that Cruz had dual Canadian-American citizenship,[145][146] he applied to formally renounce his Canadian citizenship and ceased being a citizen of Canada on May 14, 2014.[144][147]

Several lawsuits and ballot challenges asserting that Cruz is ineligible have been filed,[148][149][150][151][152][153] including one that pleaded, "Only the U.S. Supreme Court can finally decide, determine judicially and settle this issue now."[154] No lawsuit or challenge has been successful, and in February 2016 the Illinois Board of Elections ruled in Cruz's favor, stating, "The candidate is a natural born citizen by virtue of being born in Canada to his mother who was a U.S. citizen at the time of his birth."[155]

According to his birth certificate he is. If he loses his run for POTUS, watch out, Canada, he's going to come home and run for prime minister.icon_lol.gif
