If you did, what were some of your thoughts on it? I mean, I had my favorite bits and least favorite bits. Personally, I like it when Sam Smith won the best song for Spectre and he dedicated to the LGBT community. I also liked it when Leo won best actor and Spotlight won. Now for some of the parts I didn't like. icon_sad.gif

It seems like Chris Rock was running a show like Blacks Vs. Whites racism or something, kinda weird vibes. Then there were a joke about Asian kids being accountants on Stage and the Penis joke from Sascha Cohen. !! Really !! It's sort of tasteless. So they think since we pissed off Blacks already, it's okay to piss off another minority like Asian people too?? Hypocrisy at its finest. Talk about diversity then made fun of other minorities for laugh.

And last bit, why did they have the Korean Actor with the Latina actress Sophia Vergara present best foreign film?? Lol is it because they're both Foreigners??? IDK, that was weird !!

    **Rant over !! phew !!

I thought Gaga's performance for a cultural change against college rape was pretty good, however, I think it could have been choreographed better. I think they sometimes went overboard with trying to equate no black actors being nominated as being racist. There were a lot of people that voted for what they felt were best performances so I would image it was a rating scale of some sort, and this time around that just happened to be the way the cards fell. You can really only make claims of racism if they were intentionally excluded blacks, which I don't believe was the case.

I watched it, it had some good things and some not so good. I've never cared for Sascha Cohen, I don't find him funny at all. And come on, this is the Academy Awards, his style of humor doesn't fit. A lot of Chris Rock's material was funny, but not all. The bit with the 3 Asian children posing as the accountants probably should have been skipped. The Gaga number with the college students I thought was well done, and Chris Rock was funny for the most part. My main complaint is the show is just too long! Last night it ran 3 1/2 hours. They need to find a way to keep it to no longer than 2 1/2. And what's with some presenters and award winners wearing last minute thrown together stuff that looks like they rummaged through their closet at the last minute? Women should have some sense of style and elegance, and men should be wearing a classic tux! It's the Oscars, geez.

Another cringe worthy moment. Stacey Dash celebrating Black history month. So awkward.

It was the first time I felt like the Oscars were in the gutter. Totally coarse and inappropriate. I turned it off after about an hour. And Leo? God. That guy is unpleasant.

NO! Our local PBS station ran a Downton Abbey marathon all day and into the evening past the time the Oscars ended. Even the pledge breaks were preferable to watching a bunch of nincompoops make fools of themselves - and a large portion of the country.

Well it's considered 3 1/2 hrs to be normal and short for the awards. I don't know, I thought Sasha Cohen is a funny guy but the Oscars, a penis joke ?? Really, that was pretty classless. I don't know but I feel like the entire evening vibe was pretty awkward, some celebs or even all of them are forced to smiled at some of the lame *mean/racist jokes. Just look all over Twitter, tons of Blacklash. It's like I'm watching Comedy central stupid mean comedians roasting gone wrong. icon_rolleyes.gif

I rarely watch it. I always find those awards programs tedious and forced. Satellite TV had Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in the 1936 "Swing Time" for much of the Oscars, infinitely more entertaining. I got a summary of the show's results and highlights later online.

I love that Leonardo Dicaprio talks about Global Warming when he takes private jets everywhere. His carbon footprint is about 27 times mine. When was the last time he flew coach?

The Oscars is a grand display of Liberal Hypocrisy and now racism.

Blacks can work there but they can't own an Oscar. Just like a plantation in the old south. Here's Hollywood's new flag:

I'm happy for the artists in all categories who are nominated/recognized by their peers. It's a huge night for them. But the show...usually tedious, and I anticipated even more so this year with the injection of false racial bias claims.

The best man/woman does not always win. They're often not even nominated. It's just a glitzy popularity contest.

Whites have lost control of the economy. Saudi Arabia basically owns us. Asians americans' incomes surpass white americans' within 5 years of immigrating here. I guess at least we still get to own the media and the definition of hot icon_wink.gif

An analysis of Oscar selections since 2000 suggests that the imbalances are industry-wide, not primarily to do with Academy voters. And they affect all ethnic minorities. Oscar nominations have not dramatically under-represented black actors. Instead, they have greatly over-represented white ones. Blacks are 12.6% of the American population, and 10% of Oscar nominations since 2000 have gone to black actors. But just 3% of nominations have gone to their Hispanic peers (16% of the population), 1% to those with Asian backgrounds, and 2% to those of other heritage.

What may be of more interest is the silence of the Hispanic and Asian peers.

You mean the Saudi Arabia that can no longer set the price for a barrel of oil? That Saudi Arabia? They own us how?

And Americans just want to play X-Box and get free shit. College is hard. Asians don't care. They get the engineering degree anyway. Good for them. The Bernie generation has arrived...

Why are just the Confederate Flag wavers quoting me? I sleep almost exclusively with Black Guys or young Asian immigrants, or guys from Poland.

I am not racist. I do not think any race is better than another. I also think "race" is a term that belongs in the 1920's We are all mongrols. The whitest kid and the blackest chick. We have genomes now and genetics and such, why is race, an old term, still used?

Updated: They *the Oscars* officially apologized to the Asians community, well better late than never though. Still, that was a sour note.
