Donald Trump has sued Palm Beach County in Florida for $100 million and accused the county-run airport of deliberately sending air traffic over his historic mansion and private club.
Trump specifically called out the local airport director Bruce Pelly for diverting all departing flights over the Mar-a-Lago mansion, to seek revenge over a 20-year-old lawsuit....
Adding insult to injury, Trump is forced to fly his own private jet over his club, according to his lawyer, John Marion of Sellars, Marion & Bachi.
Going back a lot of years now. If I recall the original story, when he bought the place, which locals were pretty upset about, he somehow--I think by lawsuit--diverted planes from going over the estate, which by chance lines up (or about three blocks south) with the existing runway. If I remember right, he got all the planes to waste a crapload of extra fuel by flying at a steeper incline to get them higher before overflying AIA.
Someone feel free to check me on that story. I might not remember exactly. But I do recall many of us were outraged both at his audacity and that the county capitulated.
